This two-quarter course is an introduction to the principles, process, and institutions of American government. The first quarter (15-POL-110) examines American political thought and culture, including the principles underlying the Constitution, and the ways in which government and the citizenry are linked together. The second quarter (15-POL-111) looks at the institutions of government and how they work, from the source of their powers in the Constitution, to the ways in which public policies are developed and implemented. Upon completion of 15-POL-110, students should demonstrate:
