Project WET
is an interdisciplinary water education program intended to
supplement a school's existing curriculum. The goal of Project WET
is to facilitate and promote the awareness, appreciation, knowledge
and stewardship of water resources through the development and
dissemination of classroom ready teaching aids and through the
establishment of state sponsored Project WET programs. Project
WET is Water Education for Teachers.
AnnouncementJune 9, 2004 -- The Resource Enhancement And Protection - Conservation Education Program announces funding for 15 Environmental Education Projects, including Iowa Project WET. REAP-CEP will provide $30,080 to the Iowa Academy of Science in support of preservice training workshops and specialized workshops for inservice educators. Working in partnership with Iowa teacher preparation institutions, 600 preservice teachers will be trained in hands-on, scientifically based and educationally sound activities that deal with Iowa's water resources and issues. Iowa Project WET will also have the flexability to provide customized workshops on Water Quality, Watersheds, Mapping Watersheds, or Wetlands for schools or other groups of educators. REAP-CEP also funds programs on Waste Reduction, Focus on Food and Environment and much more.
