Opening and Introductions:

Welcome to GLOBE Iowa. Get some information on logistics and introduced to the training team members. There will be an overview of the week’s agenda and participants will be broken into two session teams of approximately 15 teachers each.

It's Raining Cats and Dogs:

The Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide contains 92 activities for use in K-12 rooms and every one of these activities deals with a water issue! It’s Raining Cat’s and Dogs is an activity to explore how water is important to our lives and why a book with so many activities revolving around one theme was ever created. This activity also demonstrates the integrated subject nature of Project WET.

The Earth as a System:

One of GLOBE’s primary goals is to study the Earth as a system, to put the pieces of the earth puzzle together rather than study each as an individual entity. This activity introduces participants to the systems approach. Participants will break into groups and devise a way to share this concept with students or other teachers.

Handout Materials:

Each participant receives a GLOBE Teacher Kit (including Teacher’s Guide, Tree Keys, Cloud Chart and Poster, Video and more) and a Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide. These and other materials will be handed out at this session.
