Graduate Credit Option

GLOBE Iowa workshops can be taken for two hours of graduate level credit through the University of Northern Iowa. If this option is taken the cost of tuition ($384/2 hours through May 2001) will be billed to the participant. The tuition cost will go up to $412/2 hours June 1, 2001 (Don't forget to check if you can use Eisenhower, Phase III or other funds to pay for this!). Participants register for credit on the first day of the workshop.

820:186g Studies in classroom integration GLOBE/Project WET (2 hrs)

The Objective of this workshop will be to integrate quality environmental science programs, GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) and Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), into the classroom. Protocols designed by NASA and NOAA scientists for Atmosphere, Hydrology, Soils and Landcover environmental observations will be a primary focus of the workshop. Learning activities from both programs will be modeled and peer taught throughout the workshop. The learning activities and school curriculum goals (benchmarks and standards) will be used as the focus for integration. Participants will become certified as GLOBE Teachers. Participants will demonstrate integration of these programs (through homework assignment) following the workshop.

Check on your Grade

The University of Northern Iowa now has all grade information available online. To check your grade for the GLOBE workshop or any other UNI class, go to the Grades Page, click on My UNIverse and log in. Help is available for first time users. You may also request a written copy of your grades from the Office of the Registrar, (319) 273-2241. Remember that we allow you one full semester to complete your homework assignment. Your grades will only be posted if you have completed the course and the grade has been processed (usually two weeks from completion date).

Certificate License Renewal Option

Beginning with the GLOBE workshop at Lakeside Lab in October, 2001 teachers will be able to take the GLOBE workshop for certificate renewal credits through AEA 7. Teachers have the option of taking one or two Credits for $50 each. Participants taking this option will have to complete a homework assignment.
