Description:
The aim of this course
is to study the evolution of Spanish from Latin into its modern form. By the
end of the course, students should be able to read and understand original
texts in Spanish from any time, and establish hypothesis as to the probable
pronunciation at the time. Some notions of Latin grammar will be covered as
part of the course. Additionally, graduate students will have a chance to read
and discuss the three medieval works included in the MA reading list.
