Teaching Teachers Through Technology (1997) - $77,000

This Microsoft Grant IS NOT a continuance of the previous grants. This grant funds software for 11 microcomputer labs at Price Laboratory School, Schindler Education Center (including the Library Science lab), and the Center for Educational Technology. It is designed to support instructing inservice and preservice teachers in integrating technology into their curriculum.
 
Microsoft School Office Package Partnership (1996) - $35,000
This is a continuance of the Microsoft Office Partnership. It provides the Microsoft software for the labs in Price Lab School, Shindler Education Center and the Center for Educational Technology.
 
Microsoft School Partnership (1995) - $35,000
Software and Technical Support Grant. Redefinition of previous partnership. Software includes Microsoft Works, Microsoft Publisher and a library of CD ROM titles.
 
Microsoft School Office Package Partnership (1994) - $35,000
Software and Technical Support Grant. Expansion of previous partnership. Software includes the more powerful integrated application, Microsoft Office.
 
Microsoft School Partnership (1993) - $25,000
Software and Technical Support Grant. Building an Educational MicroCulture: Putting Theory into Practice Works! Microsoft Works (DOS, Windows, & Macintosh platforms) for every computer at Malcolm Price Laboratory School and UNI College of Education and variety of desktop publishing and CD-based multimedia software.

 

 

John Deere Equipment Grant (1997) - $18,000
After asking for over 90 computers to support five programs at Price Laboratory School, we received 14 Macintosh Centris 610 computers with 17"" monitors. These were used to populate the PLS Technology Education Lab.
 
John Deere Equipment Grant (1996) - $25,000
Our proposal asked for 32 computers, but we were able to get 50 Macintosh IIcx computers. We have used these computers to provide web access to almost every classroom at PLS.
 
McLeod Foundation (1997) - $10,000
This grant was written in 1996, but it was pursued and closed in 1997. While it did not yield the $100,000 we wanted, we received 10 previously-owned 486 computers that are being used in the physics and technology education classrooms.
 
 
GOVERNMENTAL ($15,000)
 
New Iowa Schools Development Corporation (1995) - $5,000 (refunded)
Emphasis for this year has been changed to supporting the PLS Strategic Planning process. This funding will support providing release time for committee members as well as supporting faculty in-service days.
 
New Iowa Schools Development Corporation (1994) - $5,000 (refunded)
Refunded for this year to continue investigating how the developmentally appropriate program in the preschool - 3rd grades could be enhanced through technology. Monetary and technical support to design the EMPOWER: Empowering Early Learning through Technology and Collaboration .
 
New Iowa Schools Development Corporation (1993) - $5,000
Monetary and technical support to design the EMPOWER: Empowering Early Learning through Technology and Collaboration project for preschool - 3 grades at Malcolm Price Laboratory School.
 
 
UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA ($15,100)
 
Multimedia Minigrant (1997) - $2000
This grant allowed me to integrate web pages into my ""Using Databases in Education" course. It has allowed me to offer resources previously unavailable to my students.
 
UNI Student Computer Fee (1997) - $4,700
Receiving funding for PLS from the UNI Student Computer Fee is a difficult task. After submitting a proposal for technology support, we were awarded some support for our Macintosh Laboratory.
 
Microcomputer Equipment Grant (1995) - $2,400
Received support to enhance my computing system with a Quicktake Camera, an Apple Onetake Scanner, and an Apple StyleWriter 2400.
 
Microcomputer Equipment Grant (1994) - $5,000
Received support for a computing system to fit my professional needs. This system included Macintosh PowerBook 540C, HP 310 Printer, ProPresenter, and software.
 
Technology Infusion Mini-grant (1994) - $1,000
Received support to spend 2 weeks investigating further infusing technology into the CI 159g Using Databases in Education course.
