When appropriate for a crisis-oriented situation, the Police will contact an on-call UNI Counseling Center staff member and ask the counselor to return a call to the distressed student.

Substance abuse evaluations for impaired driving, drug and alcohol possession, and public intoxication offenses, as well as self-referrals. The $115 fee for an evaluation is due at the time of service and cannot be paid by check; cash or money order preferred. Cedar Valley Recovery Services also provides Level 0.5 Early Intervention, private Level I Outpatient, and a methadone treatment program for individuals addicted to opiates.

Detoxification services, chemical dependency outpatient and inpatient treatment programs for adults and adolescents, relapse prevention and continuing care programs, substance abuse evaluations and treatment referrals. Covenant will bill insurance providers for the cost of an evaluation. Clients who need an evaluation because of an OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) charge, must pay a $140 fee on the day of the testing. The fee for non-OWI evaluations is $202. Clients without insurance who request non-OWI evaluations must pay the fee in full before they can schedule an evaluation appointment.

Ms. Helm can file insurance claims for Midland’s Choice and BlueCross/Blue Shield. Evaluations for legal matters must be paid in cash. She cannot receive Title XIX reimbursements.

Substance abuse evaluations and mental health counseling. Substance abuse evaluations (including OWI) are a fee of $125. Ms. Rodenburgh files for most insurances and Medicaid for mental health counseling. Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Allen Counseling Center

Substance abuse evaluations and treatment referrals for adolescents and adults; outpatient substance abuse treatment services for adolescents (after-school program); outpatient gambling treatment program for adults. Allen provides evaluations on a small scale, due to staffing constraints. When their counselors have enough time for evaluations, a maximum of three evaluations are scheduled per week. Clients must pay the $125 fee in advance of the appointment. They do not file insurance claims for evaluations. Therefore, if your insurance covers the cost of an evaluation, you may want to complete it at another agency.

AA is a group of men and women who share their experiences, strength and hope to help one another recover from alcoholism. There are no fees and the only requirement for attendance is a desire to stop drinking. Call for local meeting times and places.
Al-Anon & Alateen Hotline (319) 291-3660
Both support groups are open to anyone who feels his or her life has been or is being affected by close contact with a problem drinker. Al-Anon & Alateen have one purpose: to help families and friends of compulsive drinkers. We are not affiliated with any religion. Members are anonymous and anonymity is a cornerstone of both programs. What is said in meetings and member to member must be held in strict confidence. The group is entirely self-supporting through member contributions and using a 12-step approach.
Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Hotline - (319) 291-8803
NA is a group of recovering addicts who live without the use of drugs. There are no fees for meeting attendance. The hotline provides information regarding local meeting times and places.
