Instructors Training Course

Wellness and Recreation Services (WRS) is offering a personal training instructor course.

This instructor course is offered to students who are interested in becoming a personal trainer at the Wellness and Recreation Center.  What an awesome way to gain work experience. 

This (10) ten-week intensive program provides in-class theory and hands on practical training. WRS certification is awarded upon completion of the course, passing exams and weekly quizzes, a one year time commitment and providing proof of current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.

Dates

  • On Mondays, lecture will be held from 3:30-5:30 pm in room 150 of the WRC (September 15 - December 8, 2008)
  • On Fridays, lab will be held from 2:00-3:30 pm in room 150 of the WRC (September 19 - December 5, 2008)

Registration

  • Begins: Friday, September 12th, 2008 in room 150 at 2:00 pm.  Space is limited, please attend the informational meeting.
  • Ends: Monday, September 15th, 2008.

Lecture (15 hours)

  • Exercise Physiology

Lab (15 hours)

  • Introduction to: Bands, Tubes, Medicine Balls, Physio Ball and the Bosu.

  • Free Weight Training Techniques
  • Flexibility

Certification Requirements

  • Proof of current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
  • Required attendance (both lecture and lab days) is 9 out of the 11 weeks of the course.
  • Passing grades on weekly quizzes and both written and practical exams.
  • One year time commitment upon completion on the course.
  • Passing grade is 80% or higher.
