The purpose of the Outdoor Recreation program is to provide outdoor and environmental education/ opportunities for students, faculty and staff. The Outdoor Recreation program is committed to providing enjoyable, challenging, meaningful and educational experiences that will allow individuals and groups to learn the skills necessary for survival and safety in outdoor activities as well as develop an appreciation for the environment.

Get Involved

Students interested in trips or in becoming more involved in the program should contact the Outdoor Recreation office @ (319) 273-7163. Very little, if any previous experience is necessary for any of the outdoor recreational activities, unless otherwise specified. Anyone can enjoy the great outdoors and should take advantage of the opportunity. Let us help you with your outdoor needs.

Resource Library

The Outdoor Recreation office houses a resource library equipped to provide participants with topographical and trail maps, as well as reference materials and books relating to outdoor education and trip planning.
