- A team is composed of seven (7) players, a minimum of five (5) are needed to avoid forfeit. In co-rec play at least three players need to be female.
- A game consists of two (2) 20 minute halves with a five minute half-time. Teams switch ends at half. Game time is forfeit time.
- Timeouts: Two (2) one minute timeouts per game, per team.
- Field of play: 80 yds. x 40 yds., designated mid field line at the center, two 10 yd. end zones.
- Equipment: No screw in cleats allowed; molded cleats or tennis shoes are acceptable. IM department will provide official game frisbee or aerobie.
- Starting the game: play begins with a coin flip, the winner receives the choice of possession of the frisbee to begin the game or which goal they will defend, loser takes the remaining option. To start the second half possession goes to the team behind in score. If tied, it goes to the team who did not start with possession the first half.
- General play:
- The objective is to advance the frisbee down field by completing passes between teammates, the final pass to a teammate in the end zone. All scores count one (1) point. In co-rec play passes must alternate between male/female.
- Once a person has possession they must stop (allowance made for running catches), they may pivot and have five seconds to make the next pass (violation of time limit gives possession to the opponent at that spot). A pass may be forward, backward, or lateral.
- The game begins with the team in possession of the frisbee at the goal line they're defending, the defensive team lines up behind the mid field line. After the first "pass" by the offense the defense may advance towards the offense to secure better defensive position. This alignment takes place after each score as well.
- Game clock: is continuous, stopping only for timeouts and injuries.
- Situations that cause loss of possession:
- Offensive player drops a pass or defensive player knocks down an offensive pass attempt.
- Passing the frisbee out-of-bounds.
- Defense intercepts.
- Offense holds frisbee beyond allowed five second passing time.
- After a score.
* In situations 1-4, opponent takes possession at the "spot" of the infraction, situation 5 on the goal line - Defensive player must allow a one (1) step cushion when guarding a player with the frisbee.
- Interference:
If an intended receiver is bumped, pushed or interfered with prior to catching the frisbee it will be deemed a foul and considered a "legal catch" at the point of the foul. If the foul occurs in the end zone, possession is granted at the one(1) yard line. - Misconduct:
Flagrant misconduct or unsportsmanlike behavior directed at another player, spectator, official, or staff will be penalized with immediate ejection from the game and field. Two (2) such ejections, in the same season, disqualifies the player from any further participation. - Tie game at the end of regulation play: reflip a coin, give choices, play is sudden death, first score wins.
- Co-Rec Adaptations:
- A team is composed of seven (7) players of which at least three (3) must be female.
- Passes must alternate between male/female
