FAULTS
A fault made by the serving side puts the server out; if it is made by the "out" side (the side receiving the serve) it scores a point for the serving side.
Faults are made under the following conditions:
- If the server serves overhand (if higher than server's waist).
- If the server serves the shuttle so that it falls into the wrong court.
- If either the server or the player receiving the service is not standing with is feet in the proper court for the service.
- If shuttle falls outside of the boundary line, falls to pass the net, or goes through the net, or goes under the net.
- If a player reaches over the net with his racket or person and hits the shuttle with his racket, or touches the net (his racket may follow the shuttle over, however).
- If the shuttle is hit twice in succession by players on the same side, or if it is not distinctly hit.
LET
The word "let" means that the play counts for nothing and is played over.
- If the server's shuttle touches the top of the net in going over, provided the service is otherwise good. (If this happens after the service, the stroke is good.)
- If the server serves from the wrong side of the court or out of turn, and scores an ace, (provided the let is claimed or allowed before the next serve).
- If player standing in the wrong half court takes a service and wins the rally, (provided the let is claimed or allowed before the next service.)
SCORING
Points are scored only by the serving side. A point is scored by the serving side whenever the "out" commits a fault. When the fault is committed by the serving side, the service is out.
SERVING only server can score
Singles when score is zero or an even number (2 4 6 etc.), you serve from your right hand court. When your score is an odd number (1 3 5 etc.) you serve from your left hand court.
Doubles service always begins from your right hand court. Team that serves first gets but one hand down (loss of serve). Thereafter, each team gets two hands down. Serving team switches courts after each hand down.
COURT DIMENSIONS
Singles court is always long and narrow.
Doubles on serve, court is short and wide. After serve court is long and wide.
