- A coin flip will determine first service, winner starts serve first game, the loser of the coin flip serves second game and if a third game is needed, teams will flip again (winner of first coin flip decides which side to start serve from).
- A team is composed of 4 players (2 men and 2 women plus substitutes). At least 3 players are needed to avoid forfeit.
- All games are rally scoring up to 15, win by 2, with a cap at 20. There is a 30 minute time limit on each game.
- To play in the championship participants must have played in a game prior to the tournament reaching the semi-final round.
- Server shall stand with both feet behind the end line when serving. A serve that hits the net and goes over is considered a live ball.
- No restrictions on how the ball is served except that it must be clearly hit and not thrown or pushed.
- Each team may take one timeout of one minute during each game.
- If a player touches a ball or a ball touches a player they are considered as having played it, EXCEPT on a block.
- Players may use any part of their body that is above and including their waist.
- It is permissible to run out of bounds to play a ball only on your team’s side.
- Players are not permitted to scoop or hold the ball. The ball must not visibly come to rest on the players’ hands, fingers or any other part of the body.
- A ball, other than a serve, may be recovered from the net, provided the player avoids contact with the net and does not catch or hold the ball.
- Regarding net play- a) a player may reach under the net as long as he/she does not interfere with an opponent’s attempt to play the ball, b) a player may reach over the net to complete a spike which had begun on the player’s own side of the net, c) a player may never touch the net or step on the opponent’s side of the court, d) A player may not reach over the net to block.
- Substitutions- All substitutes will be made in the server’s position. After a substitution occurs, the substitute must play one complete rotation.
- All matches will start at designated times, however 5 minutes forfeit time is allowed from the time it was set to start. After 5 minutes the team forfeits the first game and after 10 minutes the team will be eliminated from that round. A team may start with three players.
- There will be no officials. Teams are required to keep score and the server should call the score before each serve.
- All games will be played at the WRC sand court, or an alternate site to be determined.
