Wellness and Recreation Services offers American Red Cross Swim Lessons for family
members of students, faculty and staff of the University of Northern Iowa.

Session Format

Sessions are set up in 10 forty-minute lessons taught Monday through Friday for two weeks. Parent/Infant Level I classes will be 30 minutes in length. Also, any other class that has an enrollment below 4 will be cancelled or taught for 30 minutes instead of 40 minutes.

The Paddling Panthers Learn-to-Swim Program will conduct sessions throughout the academic year. Certain Saturdays will be avoided due to university holidays and special events. Classes meet at 9:30am, 10:15am, and 11:00am.

Groups Lessons

There is a minium enrollment of 4 Paddling Panthers for each of the regular swim lesson classes. Level 1 through 3 will have a maximum enrollment of 6 per one instructor. Levels 4 through 6 will have a maximum enrollment of 10.

Option #1 September 13th - October 25th
Option #2 October 25th - December 15th

Private Lessons

Private Lessons may be taken at any skill level. This course is different from the classes listed above, in that, there is a one participant to one instructor ratio, unless scheduled prior to lessons depending on instructors schedule.

Pandling Panthers Levels One Child:
$35.00 per session (10 lessons)
$20.00 per half session(6 lessons)
Two Children:
$70.00 per session
Three or more Children:
$70+1/2 off each additional child
Private Swim Lessons Option 1:
(10, 30 minute lessons)
$105.00 per session for one child
$160.00 per session for two children
Option 2:
(5, 30 minute lessons)
$55 per session for one child
$85 per session for two chilren
Holiday Session Miss 1 day: $32.00
Miss 2 days: $28.00

Weather Policy

Inclement weather that includes lightning will require the closing of the pools. The pools will close when a storm is in the area. You may choose to call the WRC prior to driving to the building. Please call the main welcome desk at 273-2413 for information concerning lessons and severe weather closures. Unless the University and/or the WRC is closed we will continue lessons with dry land training.
