Faculty and staff have many fitness and recreration opportunities available to them. Choose a category to learn more.
Family Programming
Family Fun time is reserved on a weekly basis in the WRC, with access to courts, pools, running
track, racquetball courts, table tennis, and climbing wall. Family Fun is free to families of UNI students and paid
faculty/staff users, and available to others for a fee.
Informal Recreation and Aquatics
Running track, racquetball courts, multi-purpose courts, cardiovascular and strength training
equipment, pools, a spa, sauna, a climbing wall, and more.
Fitness Classes
Water exercise and land aerobics of all sorts, yoga, indoor cycling, strength conditioning, kick
boxing, step aerobics, boot camp, circuit weight training and more.
Personal Training Program
A popular personal fitness & training program, which includes personalized assessment, instruction, consultation,
motivation and on-going support through the process of fitness development. Short term or long term service available.
Recreational Leisure & Skill classes
From ballroom to belly dancing, swimming, tennis, golf, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, cross country
skiing and more.
- Outdoor recreational equipment (such as in-line skates, bikes, snowshoes, camping gear, canoes, and cross country skis) available for rent throughout the year
- Climbing classes on the 40 foot climbing wall held regularly
- A variety of classes available related to many outdoor recreational activities
- Special events, outings, and major trips scheduled on a regular and seasonal basis
Intramural Sports
Faculty and staff are invited to become involved, with some limitations, in programs offered to
students. During the summer, more programs are targeted specifically to University employees. Requests and new ideas are always
welcome.
Panther Masters Swim Club
This best-in-class swimming program for students, faculty and staff provides opportunity for stroke
and fitness development, as well as competition for those interested. Instruction is provided by certified and experienced
coaches.
Noon Basketball Association
The NBA facilitates the opportunity for faculty and staff to play recreational basketball together
over the noon hour. Participants in this informal program merely need to pay the WRS facility user fee. There is
no additional program fee.
Renewal and New WRS Facility User Registrations
Wellness and Recreation Services accepts registrations for Facility User privileges for the upcoming year beginning August 1st.
Annual facility usage runs from one week prior to the beginning of the fall semester through the end of summer class at an individual cost of $182 available to Faculty/Staff, and their spouses. This registration can occur online.
