Mentalist and Illusionist Wayne Hoffman - 7 & 9 p.m.
Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Free to all students.

UNI Soccer vs. Iowa - 7 p.m.
Cedar Valley Soccer Association, Waterloo

Movies Under the Moon - 9 p.m.
Overman Park, Cedar Falls. Featured film is “Brave.”

Saturday, Aug. 23

Wellness and Recreation Center – 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Open to new and returning students with their student ID.

Paddle on the Pond – 1-5 p.m.
Located to the north of the Wellness Recreation Center parking lot. Students can canoe, kayak and paddle board. Stop on by and enjoy, or learn how to use the equipment.

Sand Volleyball Tournament – 3 p.m.
Sand volleyball court west of the WRC

Bike Tune Ups – 6-8 p.m.
Outside, West of Entrance of the WRC

Academic buildings open, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Buildings include Begeman, Communication Arts Center, Curris Business Building, Honors Cottage, Industrial Technology Center , Innovative Teaching Technology Center, Kamerick Art Building, Lang, Latham, McCollum Science, Russell, Sabin, Schindler Education, Seerley and Wright Halls.

UNI Choral Auditions - All day
Auditions for all UNI Choral Ensembles

Thunder in the Valley Airshow - All Day

Panthers on Main – 1-4 p.m.
Enjoy entertainment and shopping on the award-winning Community Main Street. Free buses will run on a continuous loop between campus and downtown Cedar Falls. Two campus pick-up spots: the Panther Shuttle stops behind Curris Business Building and in front of Bartlett Hall.

Welcome Week Pool Party - 6-9 p.m.
Hosted by Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) and Residence Hall Association (RHA), at the WRC pool.

Welcome Ball – 7-11 p.m.
Hosted by the UNI Ballroom/Swing club. All UNI students are welcome to join the dance!

Games Under the Lights – 8:30 p.m.
New recreational fields, WRC

Outdoor movie –"Blended" - 9 p.m.
The movie is free for everyone. There will be limited concessions available. Feel free to bring blankets to sit on.

Thunder in the Valley Airshow - All Day

Dance Marathon Picnic, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Seerley Park, on Seerley and Tremont one block from campus. There is a requested $5 donation, which comes with a full meal. Music, games and more – a great way to hang out, have fun and meet more people before class begin. Open to all students.

Panther Kick-Off
On-campus first-year and transfer students meet in your residence hall at 4:30 p.m., and commuter students meet in the Wellness Recreation Center (next to the Outdoor Recreation Office) at 4:30 p.m. to receive your free t-shirt and walk over to the Kick-Off.  The event begins at 5:00 p.m. in McLeod Center.

Monday, Aug. 25

Center for Multicultural Education Welcome Back BBQ, 5-7 p.m.
Memorial Garden. Come and join us for some bbq, music and games!

Wednesday, Aug. 27

Bash in the Stacks - 7-9:30 p.m.
Rod Library. Free to students. Games, free food, music, and prizes. More information at: on.fb.me/UR4Hh2

Ultimate Frisbee - 6-7:30 p.m.
Bender Field. Students can come play some pickup ultimate frisbee

Graduate Student Information Meeting -  3-4:30 p.m.
Maucker Union. Includes a campus resource fair, a presentation by Dean Chris Cox on using the Rod Library as a graduate student and a graduate student panel

Thursday, Aug. 28

Hallapalooza – 5-7 p.m.
The Quads. Inflatables, music, games, and more! Rain location is in the West Towers Lounge (located above the Rialto Dining Center).

Laser Tag – 8:30-11 p.m.
Free to students with their student ID. Gather a group of friends to come play or join others when you arrive at the union. 

Observatory Show - 9-10 p.m.
Visit the UNI Observatory at McCollum Science Hall to see the night sky. Meet at 137 McCollum Science Hall at 9 p.m. (viewing will depend upon weather, but the show will go on!).

Tuesday, Sept. 9

Rainbow Reception, 5:30-7 p.m. with program at 6 p.m.
Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. The Rainbow Reception is an opportunity for UNI students, faculty and staff to welcome lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and ally students back to campus for the new academic year. This event is an annual evening of information sharing, networking, fellowship and dessert.
