Highlights 2011

My daughter Annie spent fall semester abroad studying Graphic Design at ISU's Rome Program.We went to visit her over Thanksgiving Break and had a fabulous time

Another reason this summer was special is because we had 2 different graduation ceremonies.
Daughter Jen received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor
(go Blue!) We are so proud of the new Dr. Walsh in our family!! She now has a post-doctoral
research position at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Our youngest daughter Annie received her B. F. A. in Graphic Design from Iowa State University.
(The creative College of Design doesn't believe in graduation gowns : ) ). Annie is going to the
University of Iowa for a graduate program in the Book Arts. U of IA was also where our middle
daughter Sara received her undergraduate degree in Structural Engineering, so you can see that
our family has to root for all 3 state university teams!

The Fifth Annual 3 day Iowa Irish Fest (one of my hubby's favorite projects) took place in downtown Waterloo August 5-7. Lots of the extended Walsh family (and thousands of others) made it to town for the celebration. Mark this year's Iowa Irish Fest in your calendars (first weekend in August) for a great party!

Besides the 15 or so Irish bands at the Fest, I went to about 25 other concerts this summer - U2, John Mayer, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Band Perry, Darius Rucker, Jake Owen, and LOTS of Keith Urban concerts ! I enjoy traveling, so this summer I went to shows in Sioux City, Davenport, Biloxi, Jacksonville, Tampa, Columbia SC, Charlotte, Raleigh, St. Louis, Moline, Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Albany, Cincinati, Knoxville, Atlanta, Kansas City, and Omaha.

My favorite performer is guitar-god Keith Urban whose concerts cannot be beat.

Three weeks later my daughters & I went to the St. Louis show. Daughter Annie won a pair of backstage passes from a country radio station. She (in navy) and daughter Jen (in red) managed to stand on either side of Keith in their photo, so I was a little jealous! Daughters backstage experience
