By joining our distinguished faculty you have become part of UNI's 133-year tradition of excellence in teaching and scholarship. UNI's student-centered approach to providing exceptional learning opportunities is the hallmark of our service to the state of Iowa and its citizens.
It is an exciting time to be part of this university for students and for educators. Our continuous pursuit of higher levels of achievement in undergraduate education, our state leadership in Pre-K through 12 education issues, and our commitment to assisting the state in all facets of economic, cultural and social development are the priorities guiding UNI's course into the 21st century.
UNI presents a vibrant campus in a beautiful and welcoming community. I encourage you to explore, to become involved and to take advantage of all the amenities our environment has to offer.

Executive VP and Provost
I am very pleased to welcome you to the University of Northern Iowa. This is also my first year at UNI. Since my arrival in July, I have experienced warm welcomes and expressions of support. I’m sure you will have a similar experience.
UNI is a dynamic campus, dedicated to academic excellence and beaming with energy and enthusiasm. Faculty are recipients of major teaching and service awards. In addition, their creative activities, research and scholarship bring institutional prestige and contribute to our vision of becoming a leader among the nation’s finest comprehensive institutions. Most recently, we were voted as one of the best universities to work for by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
I am very excited about the potential you bring to help move the university to an even higher level of excellence. Dedicated teaching, ground-breaking research and committed service, all play a crucial role in student success and your success. We also strive to become a more inclusive environment, welcoming those of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Please get to know not only the colleagues in your department and college, but also those outside your specific discipline. New ideas emerge and become a reality through conversations, exploration and interactions with others.
