                         MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
                     (University Advisory Committee)
 
    This Memorandum of Agreement is entered into between the
 State of Iowa, Board of Regents/University of Northern Iowa,
 hereafter referred to as the "Board" and the UNI-United
 Faculty, hereafter referred to as "United Faculty" as
 follows:
 1. The Board and the United Faculty are parties to a Master
     Agreement covering the period July 1, 1997, through June
     30, 1999.
 2. The parties have agreed to set forth an agreement and
     understanding relating to University Committees as
     provided in Subdivision 3.82 of the Master Agreement
     between the parties.
 3. The parties agree that for deliberations in reference to
     tenure, promotion and retention recommendations pursuant
     to Subdivision 3.82 of the Master Agreement between the
     parties the librarians shall have a member on the
     University Advisory Committee for such purpose.
 4. The parties further agree that this Memorandum of
     Agreement is specifically for the purpose as set forth
     herein and such agreement shall not be urged by either
     party as having any effect beyond the specific purpose
     described herein.
 5. This Memorandum of Agreement shall be in effect and
     binding on the parties for the period July 1, 1997,
     through June 30, 1999.
