Student Health Clinic

  • Provides a caring exam by medical personnel specially trained to help assault victims

  • Treats physical injuries and/or sexually transmitted diseases, as well as provides pregnancy protection

  • Assesses psychological needs and provides referrals

Counseling Center

  • Provides free, confidential, individual and group therapy to survivors of sexual assault, relationship violence, and childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse

  • Gives priority scheduling of appointments to victims of physical/sexual assault

  • Makes referrals to appropriate campus and community services

  • Works with the Violence Intervention Services to promote recovery from assault

University Police

  • Responds to and investigates crimes, including sexual assault/domestic abuse, stalking, and harassment, a report can be made without filing charges.

  • Thoroughly listens to the needs of the victim and provides information on medical, criminal, legal and other services available within the university community

  • Encourages direct communication with the Violence Intervention Services

  • Encourages use of medical, health, emotional health and advocacy services

  • Helps contact supportive friends and family, if desired

  • Provides information concerning the option of filing a University complaint, if the assailant is a UNI student or employee

  • Takes action to minimize residence life encounters with the perpetrator

  • Helps identify an immediate safe place to stay

Dean of Students Office

  • Receives and investigates reports/complaints of sexual abuse, stalking or relationship/domestic violence committed by a student

  • Assists individuals in filing a report/complaint and provides information about the disciplinary process

  • Welcomes an advocate, friend or family member to accompany a victim to any appointments and meetings

  • Gives special attention to health, safety and academic considerations of victims and coordinates the university investigation with any police investigation, when applicable

  • Provides timely updates to victims as to the status of an investigation or hearing

  • Issues No Contact and No Trespass letters

  • Receives and investigates reports/complaints of harassment and/or discrimination committed by an employee or campus visitor.

  • Provides individuals with information about the University Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy and respective procedures.

  • Provides individuals with information about resolution options, including university resources as well as options outside of the university
