HR ANNOUNCES REDUCED FUND EXPENSES FOR UNI TIAA-CREF RETIREMENT PLANNEW

UNI will adopt new mutual funds with lower management fees and expenses for the TIAA-CREF Retirement Savings Plan. The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley is partnering with the Cedar Valley Arboretum to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks through service. Volunteers will assist with beautification of the grounds at the Arboretum from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11. 2011 REGENTS AWARD FOR FACULTY EXCELLENCE

The 2011 Regents Award for Faculty Excellence recipients are April Chatham-Carpenter, communication studies; Bill Downs, social work; John Johnson, history; Sam Lankford, HPELS; Tim Lindquist, accounting; and Michael Roth, physics. The award recipients will be recognized at the Faculty Recognition Reception from 3:15 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Commons Ballroom.

STATE FIRE MARSHAL WARNS OF DANGERS USING DECORATIVE GEL FIRE POTNEW

The Iowa Department of Public Safety-State Fire Marshal Division urges citizens to use caution when lighting or burning decorative, gel-fueled fire pots. Several people have been admitted to the University of Iowa Burn Unit with serious burns as a result of using these gel fire pots. LAC-RSC FEEDBACK SESSIONS

Faculty are invited to share their thoughts on the new Liberal Arts Core-Review Steering Committee Final Recommendations Report. Open feedback sessions will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, in the University Room, MAU, and from noon to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the CME. Drinks and cookies provided.
