The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, will host an open forum from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, in the Commons Ballroom. The purpose of the open forum will be to receive comments from the university community relative to the qualities and characteristics of the next UNI president.

UNI Online is a compilation of notices to be distributed to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is noon, the day before publication. UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. Announcements must have news, not opinion content. News items may be submitted via the UNI Online Submission Form.= New items.
UNI's financial aid office reports a 7.6 percent decrease in UNI student debt. The average indebtedness for UNI students is $23,575. As a result of one-on-one counseling for students wanting private loans, private loan borrowing for UNI students went from $15.3 million to $3 million, an 80 percent decrease since 2007-08.
The fee for Creative Resources offered through University Relations (UR) has been eliminated, and colleges, departments and programs will be able to submit requests for collaborative project support. Creative Resources include project coordination, graphic design support for e-media, print media, photography, Web support and copy editing. Priority will be given to jobs that directly align with student recruitment and the university’s strategic initiatives. Program details and Project Request forms are located on the UR home page.

Panther Village, the newest UNI Department of Residence community, will be dedicated from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6. The program will begin at 3:15 p.m. and tours will follow. Panther Village is home to 204 students in one-, two- and four-person apartments. The hallmarks of Panther Village include meticulous attention to quality, sustainability, comfort and convenience. Phase II of Panther Village will open fall 2013.
