UNI Online is a compilation of notices to be distributed to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is noon, the day before publication. UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. Announcements must have news, not opinion content. News items may be submitted via the UNI Online Submission Form.= New items.
UNI will host the 2012 Iowa Regents Institutions Disability Awareness Summit from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 10, in the Commons. The Disability Summit is open to all UNI students, faculty and staff, as well as those from other Regents institutions. Three new stories have been added to the UNI home page (This is UNI). Feature stories include William Downs', social work, Integrated Services Project; Francis Degnin's, philosophy & world religions, course on death and dying; graduate students' work at the Center for Disability Studies in Literacy, Language and Learning.
The Office of University Relations will introduce "Get-to-Know" student, faculty and staff feature stories in the coming months. If you have an interesting project or story to tell, or would like to recommend someone, please email Stacey Christensen. Get-to-Know stories will highlight faculty and student research and projects, unique interests and extracurricular activities.
The American Red Cross and Sigma Alpha Epsilon will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the Ballroom, MAU. For an appointment call 1-800-RED CROSS or sign up online.
First lady Michelle Obama will speak at an Obama for America Campaign event at 9:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 28, in the McLeod Center. A ticket is required for entry. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 5 p.m., Tuesday at Maucker Union. If tickets are still available on Wednesday, they can be picked up starting at 9 a.m. (This is an Obama for America Campaign event hosted by the Panthers for Obama student organization and isn't sponsored or endorsed by the University of Northern Iowa.)
Representatives from the Iowa Energy Center (IEC) will visit UNI to provide an overview of the IEC Competitive Grant Program and answer questions from faculty and staff from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Presidential Room, MAU.
