UNI Online is a compilation of notices to be distributed to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is noon, the day before publication. UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. Gilchrist Hall has been designated as a polling location for the Nov. 6 general election. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Certain parking meters on the west side of Gilchrist Hall will be designated for voters only. Questions may be directed to Milissa Wright at 273-2712.
Several events are planned to celebrate Veterans Day at UNI. On Thursday, Nov. 8, students, faculty and staff are invited to meet outside of Maucker Union (doors facing Rod Library) to tie yellow ribbons around campus trees. A flag ceremony will take place at 12:45 p.m., Nov. 9, outside the West Gym. A reception will follow inside the West Gym.
There will be heavy traffic around the UNI-Dome on game days of the Iowa High School Athletic Association football playoffs. The dates most affected are Nov. 8 through 10 and Nov. 15 and 16. Game schedules are posted online. http://www.iahsaa.org/football/index.html
UNI has expanded its confidential reporting service. In addition to financial issues, individuals may also report concerns regarding data and information, research, risk/safety and other issues that may not easily fall into one of the categories listed. The university uses EthicsPoint to provide for the anonymous and confidential reporting of activities that may involve criminal, unethical or inappropriate behavior that violates the law or policies of the university or Board of Regents, State of Iowa. Individuals may file a report on the EthicsPoint website https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/10957/index.html or by calling EthicsPoint toll free at 866-ETHICSP (866-384-4277). The auction for surplus items from Malcolm Price Lab School is Nov. 7, 8 and 9. The schedule for the auction is as follows: Nov. 7, science, industrial tech and art items; Nov. 8, music and athletic/PE items; Nov. 9, lower and middle elementary items. The UNI Veteran’s Association will host an "Ask a Veteran" panel from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Ballroom C, MAU. This event will be an opportunity for members of the UNI community to speak directly with student veterans about their military and post-military experiences.
