UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. SUMMER NEWS SCHEDULENEW

UNI Online is starting its summer schedule this week, publishing only on Tuesdays. The submission deadline is noon, Monday. The student e-newsletters are not published in the summer.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - HUDSON ROAD PEDESTRIAN OVERPASSNEW

The Hudson Road pedestrian overpass will close due to construction on Monday, May 14. Pedestrians may use the crosswalk at W. 27th Street and Hudson Road or the underpass located north of W. 23rd Street for access to facilities west of Hudson Road. The overpass will remain closed unitl mid August. Contact facilities planning at 273-2611 with any questions.

UNI FACULTY RECOGNIZED ON FACEBOOKNEW

UNI's main Facebook page invited fans to share the names of their favorite professors. The response was overwhelming. Visit the UNI Facebook site to read some of the 485 responses.

ORDER 2012-2013 PARKING PERMITS ONLINE NOW

The online parking permit application is available for 2012-2013. Save time in August and order your permit now. You can order a regular vehicle permit in addition to a permit for a motorcycle, if needed. Permanent faculty and staff may also submit their names for the Gilchrist G and the MMTC G lottery via this form. For more information, call 273-2710.

FISCAL YEAR 2012 YEAR-END CLOSING SCHEDULE

The fiscal year-end closing schedule has been updated for FY12 and is available online. For more information on the year-end closing schedule, email Brian Looby or call 273-3537.

COMPENSATORY TIME PAYOUTS

Email notification of the annual compensatory time payout procedure has been delivered to all AFSCME, supervisory and confidential, and deans, directors and department head employees. For more information, read the compensatory time payout announcements online.

G PARKING PERMIT LOTTERY FOR 2012-2013

The deadline to apply for one of the 24 G parking spaces in the furthest north row of the Gilchrist Lot and 31 spaces in the Multimodal Transportation Center is 4:30 p.m., Friday, July 13. Requests may be made using the online parking permit application via MyUNIverse or in written form to the Department of Public Safety. Written requests should include your name, campus address and area of interest (Gilchrist or Multimodal). The proposed price for the 2012-2013 G permit is $393. Permanent employees interested in choosing the 12-month pre-tax payroll deduction payment option must be available July 23 through Aug. 15 to receive notification of their status and purchase the permit. LIBRARY DEAN CANDIDATE TO INTERVIEW

The second candidate for the dean of library services will be on campus May 7 and 8. Christopher Cox is currently serving as dean of libraries at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash. He will make his presentation to the campus community from 2 to 3:15 p.m., Monday, May 7, in 109 CME. His vita is posted on the Executive Vice President home page. A candidate evaluation form is also posted.

Lee-Ann Kastman Breuch, from the University of Minnesota, will discuss Best Practices for Assessing Writing from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, in the Oak Room, MAU. VOLUNTARY TERM LIFE INSURANCE - OPEN ENROLLMENT

All non-temporary employees eligible for life insurance can make changes to or enroll in Voluntary Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through May 31. If approved, coverage will begin on July 1. For more information and to obtain an enrollment form, visit the HRS website.

MONBUKAGAKUSHO SCHOLARSHIPS DEADLINE IS JUNE 13

Monbukagakusho, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is offering the following three scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. Research: applicants spend 18 or 24 months conducting independent research under a Japanese professor. Specialized training college students: applicants spend up to three years at a Japanese professional training school studying in one of several fields. Undergraduate student: applicants spend up to three years at a Japanese professional training school studying in one of several fields. Apply online.
