UNI Online is a compilation of notices to be distributed to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is noon, the day before publication. UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. During the past year more than 50 percent of food served in UNI dining facilities was locally purchased or produced. Nearly 50 percent of the cleaning products purchased last year at UNI are certified as environmentally friendly.

Almost every door on campus that has a self-closing device is a fire door. These doors are an integral part of the engineered fire and life-safety features of the building. It's common to find these doors propped open for various reasons. These doors must remain closed, or a device should be added to them so they will close automatically upon a fire alarm. The Maucker Union Ballroom will reopen for events on Tuesday, March 20. There are more than 1,000 fires in office environments each year. UNI's Environmental Health and Safety Office has recently obtained a DVD titled “Fire Safety for Office Workers" which explains how and why office fires start and how to help prevent them.
