NEWS

BYERS APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCE SERVICESNEW

Michelle Byers has been named UNI's director of Human Resource Services, effective immediately. She has served as interim director since October 2009.

BARTLETT A LOT RESTRICTION NEW

The Bartlett A lot will be closed to A permit parking on July 2. The lot will remain closed until late in 2013/early 2014. The east row of parking will become HC-only parking. The lot will be fenced to become lay-down space for the Bartlet Hall renovation project. Access for large vehicles to the Begeman Hall loading dock will be available. Smaller vehicles will still be able to get to Begeman via the sidewalk. Please call 273-6165 with any comments or concerns.

SUMMER STUDENT EMPLOYMENT ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTSNEW

Students working on campus this summer must meet one of the following enrollments: A) Enrolled during the summer at least half time (five hours for undergraduates; four hours for graduates) or B) Enrolled at least half time for the previous spring and at least half-time enrollment for the upcoming fall (six hours for undergraduates; five hours for graduates). Check that your student employees meet the enrollment criteria. If you have questions, email Evie Waack or call 273-6856. NOTE: Students who officially graduated in May are no longer students. They do not qualify for summer student employment. To discuss a temporary hire situation through Human Resources, call 273-2422.

FACULTY AND STAFF WITH LOBBYING CONTACTSNEW

Lobbying activity from April 1 to June 30 must be reported by Friday, June 29. In compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Honest and Open Government Act of 2007, UNI files quarterly reports on specific lobbying issues and the expenses incurred in lobbying. The university's policy on Federal and State Lobbying and Political Activity can be found in the Policies and Procedures Manual at 10.09. Reports must be filed each quarter. UNI PLANTAR FASCIITIS STUDYNEW

Do you suffer from chronic plantar fasciitis? The UNI Department of Athletic Training is conducting a research study investigating treatments for this common foot disorder. CAMPUS SUPPLY YEAR-END REMINDER

Campus Supply will be closed for inventory June 27, 28 and 29. No orders will be processed during these three days. If you need to spend year-end money, order now. If you have any questions, contact Cathy McRoberts at 277-0765. 

DOR CONFERENCE GUESTSNEW

IPERS CONTRIBUTION RATES

The employee and employer monthly contribution to IPERS will increase effective July 1. The employee share will be 5.78 percent and the employer share will be 8.67 percent. For an overview of changes effective July 1, visit the IPERS website.

MAIL DELIVERY CHANGES FOR MPLS

Begining June 27, all MPLS mail will be delivered to the College of Education at SEC mail code 0610. Mail for the Childhood Development Center, CDC, should be coded 0611 to ensure delivery to that location. For more information, call Karen at 273-3230.

FISCAL YEAR-END CLEAN-UP

Purchasing/Accounts Payable reminds account managers to review the Fiscal Year 2012 Closing Schedule. Check Statements of Account for purchase order encumbrances that need attention and contact LuAnn Andreessen at 273-3116 for those that should be closed. Requisition preparers (including students) should check for rejected, returned, in process and pre-approved requisitions that should be canceled or deleted. Remember to submit all procurement cards, RFPs and travel reimbursements for the current fiscal year in a timely manner. Contact Brian Looby at 273-3537 with questions.

The Haiti Fulbright program is active for the 2013-14 awards cycle, after being on hiatus for a decade. Proposals are accepted through Aug. 1. RETIREMENT CELEBRATION FOR DONNA MOKRICKYNEW

The National Program for Playground Safety will host a reception to honor Donna Mokricky who is retiring after 15 years of service to the university. The open house will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Thursday, June 28, in 203 HPC. Come and wish Donna well in her retirement.

FULBRIGHT WEBINAR: HOW TO CRAFT A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT STATEMENT

A webinar, "How to Craft a Successful Project Statement," will take place from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 27. This is an opportunity to learn how to apply for the Fulbright Scholar Program focusing on a major part of the application -- the project statement. Learn what is expected by reviewers in both the U. 2012 IOWA STATE FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Are you interested in supporting UNI by volunteering at UNI's Iowa State Fair booth? If so, please fill out a submission form indicating the date(s)/time(s) you'd like to volunteer; shifts are four hours each. All volunteers receive free admission to the fair. CHANGE IN LIBRARY HOURS FOR THE FOURTH OF JULYNEW

There will be no special library vacation loans over the holiday. Patrons may check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to the closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. Library online resources are available 24/7; if off campus, there will be a prompt to enter your CatID.
