UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. NEWS

ACCESS TO NEW STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEMNEW

The reload of the new SIS originally scheduled for June 17 has been rescheduled for Friday, June 24. Following Orientation on Friday, June 24, ITS will shut down the new SIS for phase II loads. Data will be brought over at the end of the day, June 23. The shutdown of the new SIS will occur at approximately 1 to 2 p.m. June 24. The only features that will remain available are the Online Application for Admission, the MyUNIverse portal and CRM (recruitment). Access to the affected systems will be restored no later than 7 a.m., Monday, June 27. Mainframe systems will remain available during this time. This will bring the new SIS up-to-date with final information from the spring term as well as enrollments and currently available information for the summer term.

UNI ONLINE DEADLINE CHANGE NEW

Due to the July 4 holiday, the deadline for the Tuesday, July 5, edition of UNI Online will be noon, Friday, July 1.

CORRECTION: IOWA STATE FAIR VOLUNTEER FORM

Are you interested in supporting UNI by volunteering at UNI's Iowa State Fair booth? If so, fill out a submission form indicating the date(s)/time(s) you'd like to volunteer. This is an updated link. New for 2011: shifts are only four hours. All volunteers receive free admission to the fair, along with a UNI T-shirt. CHANGE IN PRESCRIPTION MAIL ORDER VENDORNEW

Wellmark's prescription mail order vendor is switching from Walgreens to Immediate Pharmaceutical Services (IPS) on Friday, July 1. This benefit allows you to receive a 90-day supply of maintenance medications for the cost of two co-pays instead of three. TAKING RELAY PHONE CALLS

Any phone extension on campus may receive calls from Relay Iowa users or utilize Relay Iowa to contact an individual who is deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired. These phone calls should be taken on the same priority level as any call received, and calls must be accepted. Proper etiquette is to speak directly to the individual, as if the communication assistant is not relaying the message. It's suggested for all UNI employees to include "For deaf or hard of hearing, use Relay 711" within their contact information (e.g., email signature, business cards, etc.). NEW COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES, ARTS AND SCIENCES DEBUTS JULY 1

JULY 4TH HOLIDAY SAFETY MESSAGENEW

July 1 through 4, UNI Police will participate in a special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) to promote safe holiday travel. This effort is in conjunction with nearly 250 city, county and state law enforcement agencies across Iowa. When travel increases, traffic accidents, injury and death are more probable. Iowa law enforcement officers are asking every Iowan who gets behind the wheel to buckle up and drive responsibly. The sTEP projects are funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This money helps increase the number of officers on roadways across the state during holiday travel. For more information, contact UNI Police at 273-2712.

MIGRATE ELEARNING COURSES TO BB LEARN 9NEW

UNI faculty planning to use the UNI eLearning system for fall 2011 courses who want to use an existing course as a template are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the new "Migrating to Bb Learn 9” workshops. During these workshops, you will take one of your existing eLearning classes and migrate it to the new Bb Learn 9 system. Several workshops have been added to the schedule in July and August. CLASSES ADDED FOR ONLINE PURCHASING TRAININGNEW

Due to the large number of people requesting training for Online Purchasing from Campus Supply using FAMIS, two classes have been added. Register for training by logging in to MyUNIverse, select the Work@uni tab, locate MEMFIS Resources and click on Register for Training.

SAVE THE DATE: CAMPUS CONNEXUS – A SCHOLARLY NETWORKING EVENT

The Office of Sponsored Programs will host Campus Connexus from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29. More information on registration will be announced in August. Connexus is a great way to build professional and scholarly ties across campus in an informal social setting.

UNI TO OFFER HIGH SCHOOL COLORGUARD CLINIC

A one-day clinic will be offered for beginning and intermediate colorguard members with instruction by UNI’s colorguard coach, Amy Hunzelman. The day will consist of spinning basics, tosses, marching and movement, with sessions focusing on student leadership and colorguard choreography. BOBBIE FOX IS RETIRING FROM UNINEW

A retirement open house for Bobbie Fox will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, in CBB 101. Fox joined the university in 1976, working for 27 years with ITS-Information Systems and the past seven years for ITS-Network Services. Come celebrate and wish her well.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHERS

ITS-ET, along with the GLOBE and STORM programs, are offering a science and inquiry-based professional development program that aligns with the Iowa Core, starting with a two-week workshop July 17 through 29. Applications are now being taken for the IMPACT (IMPacting Achievement with Collaborations and Technology) program. 'TEACHING YOUR DIRECT REPORTS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS' WORKSHOP

The "Teaching Your Direct Reports to Solve Problems" workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, in the BCS. The registration deadline is Tuesday, June 21. Participants will gain insights and strategies to improve responsibility, empowerment, accountability and the use of the powerful tool of clear agreements. The discounted cost for UNI employees is $224. UNI departments may purchase a consortium membership for $995 that entitles the department to five seats in any of the 2011 management training workshops. Half-day workshops only use a half seat. WELLNESS AND RECREATION

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONSNEW

Would you like to learn to swim or refine your skills? Wellness and Recreation Services is offering private swim lessons for all types of swimmers. The lessons are held Monday through Friday, June 27 through July 8 (no lessons July 4), at 10 and 10:30 a.m. The lessons are taught by American Red Cross water safety instructors. You can sign up for one lesson or nine. Spots are limited. Lessons are open to faculty, staff, students, children of the before mentioned and alumni. UNI personal trainers are on staff all year, including the summer months. They can work with clients anywhere on campus, including the UNI-Dome, the outside running track, the lap swimming pool or the tennis/racquetball courts.
