July 2 through 8, UNI Police will join city, county and state enforcement agencies across Iowa to participate in a Special Enforcement Program (sTEP). The sTEP projects are funded by the Iowa Govenor's Traffic Safety Bureau and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This money enables officers to work more hours on the roadways during those times when traffic increases and trafic accidents, injuries and deaths are most probable. Iowa law enforcement officers are asking every Iowan who gets behind the wheel to buckle up and drive responsibly. Make this July 4 holiday a safe one. For more information, contact UNI police or Lt. Doug Widen at 273-2712.
