UNI Online is a compilation of notices to be distributed to faculty and staff. The deadline for submission is noon, the day before publication. UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. Policy 8.09, Animal Control, and Policy 10.11, Use and Security of Credit Cards Numbers, have been revised. Policy 13.17, Preparation and Service of Food & Beverage on Campus, is a new policy.
The Student Involvement & Activities Center and the Student Leadership Center, both located on the plaza level of Maucker Union, have been consolidated and renamed Student Involvement Center. Visit the new website. If you have any questions, call 273-2683.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 13, regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) for university offices resume. Supervisors with staff who don't have email access should inform them of regular business hours.

Christopher Cox has accepted the position of Dean, Rod Library, effective Aug. 27, pending Board of Regents approval. He received his Master of Library Science from SUNY at Albany and a Master of Arts in English from the University of Connecticut. Currently, Cox is dean of libraries at Western Washington University.
The Core Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a variety of academic and professional fields. The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Click here to apply. Faculty wanting to place items on reserve for the 2012 fall session should submit their list to the Rod Library reserve desk by Aug. 6. Any requests received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be available for the first week of classes. Reserve lists can be submitted online.
“Welcoming Diversity and Building Community Through the NCBI Model,” will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Oak Room, MAU. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. The workshop will be facilitated by faculty and staff who have been certified by NCBI.org and are members of the UNI Campus Coalition Builders. Those interested in learning more about participating in the initiative are invited to attend. No prior workshops are required, but participants must attend the full day. Register online. Volunteers for the UNI booth at the Iowa State Fair are still needed. To volunteer, complete a submission form indicating your preference for available date(s)/time(s). All volunteers receive free admission to the fair. For more information, email Jess Betts or call 273-2761.
The GBPAC will host a "Moving Through Math" workshop with Kennedy Center teacher artist Marcia Daft from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Aug 1 and 2, at AEA 267. This free workshop is for incoming first grade students only. To register, call 273-3679 or email Amy Hunzelman. Parents are encouraged to attend the hour-long session as well. Siblings of first grade students may attend, though they will sit with their parents. Students must be able to attend both sessions.
International cuisine and specialty food items will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Rialto. The food will be prepared by a NACUFS intern. The lunch price is $9.25. In addition, there will be mini-Olympic games.

There are 49 grants available in the 2013-14 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition for U.S. academics, professionals and early and mid-career researchers to teach and/or conduct research in Brazil. Chats will be closed Monday, July 30 through Friday, Aug. 10. Visit the library's website for intersession hours. There will be no special vacation loans over the semester break. Patrons may check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. Library online resources are available 24/7; if off campus, you will get a prompt to enter your CatID.
