UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. NEWS

W2 ELECTRONIC DELIVERYNEW

Sign up now for electronic-only delivery of your W2. In lieu of a mailed copy, you must give permission electronically by Jan. 9. You will also be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card. With electronic delivery you can view your W2 online, with the option to print, at least a week earlier than receiving it through the U.S. Mail. It’s also a cost savings to UNI. The electronic W2 will be available through UNI Employee Self Service by mid-January. An email notification of its availability will be sent to you. PRESIDENT ALLEN TO RECEIVE HONORARY DOCTOR OF HUMANE LETTERS DEGREENEW

President Allen was nominated by faculty members in ISU's College of Business for an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from ISU. He will receive the degree during ISU's commencement on Saturday, Dec. 17. For more information about this recognition, visit www.uni.edu/provost.

TITLE IV PROGRAM REVIEWNEW

In September, UNI was selected by the U.S. Department of Education for an on-site Title IV, HEA program review. The program review final report indicated that the review is closed with no liabilities or unresolved issues. UNI’s eligibility and certification approval for Title IV funding is through Dec. 31, 2016.

DIVERSITY MATTERS AWARD NOMINATIONS – DUE DEC. 14

Support UNI’s diversity efforts by nominating a student, faculty or staff member for the 2012 Diversity Matters Awards. The awards recognize those who work to fulfill our obligation to promote a university community characterized by inclusiveness and diversity. PUBLIC NOTICE: IMPROVEMENT ALTERNATIVES FOR IOWA 934/UNIVERSITY AVENUE

The public is invited to a meeting to discuss proposed improvement alternatives for Iowa 934/University Avenue in Waterloo/Cedar Falls from 58 east to U.S. 63. The meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, 3220 Terrace Dr., Cedar Falls. No formal presentation will be made. Iowa Department of Transportation staff will be available to individually discuss the proposed improvement alternatives.

EARLY PROCESSING OF STUDENT BIWEEKLY TIMECARDS FOR DEC. 28 PAYDAY

The cutoff date for the Dec. 28 biweekly payday is Saturday, Dec. 17. Because of the Christmas holiday, timecards will be processed early and must be approved by 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20 to be included in the Dec. 28 paycheck. Please make sure timecards are submitted and approved to meet this deadline.

University Relations has consolidated its offices in the east end of East Bartlett. Its main reception area is now located in 125 East Bartlett. All phone numbers remain the same.

TURNING TECHNOLOGIES STUDENT RESPONSE SYSTEM (CLICKERS)NEW

On Wednesday Jan. 4, Turning Technologies will present the basics of Turning Point and clicker classroom technology. Discussion will also focus on best practices and effective usage. Tips will be shared on writing effective clicker questions for both small and large classroom learning environments. Attend this session to learn about this classroom response system and to discuss ideas for effective use with UNI colleagues. SPRING COURSE RESERVE LISTSNEW

Faculty wanting to place items on reserve for the 2012 spring session should submit their list to the Rod Library Reserve Desk by Dec. 23. Any requests received after this date can't be guaranteed to be available for the first week of classes. Reserve lists can be submitted online at http://www.uni.edu/library/reserverequest/.

FACULTY STAFF APPRECIATIONNEW

The Panther Leadership Club (PLSC) will sell cupcakes at University Book & Supply from 1 to 3 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 14 and 15. Proceeds will benefit the Cedar Bend Human Society, Cedar Valley Food Bank and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

MCELROY FELLOWSHIPNEW

Candidates for McElroy Fellowships must intend to pursue a Ph.D. and must have graduated in December 2011 or graduate in May 2012 with a liberal arts degree. Awardees will receive $10,000 per year for three years to help defray education costs. In addition to an above average academic record, students will be evaluated on their character, leadership and general interests as expressed by extracurricular activities. The on-campus application deadline is Monday, Jan. 20. Potential applicants should contact Bryce Kanago.

SUZUKI SCHOOL TO OFFER BEGINNING VIOLIN/VIOLA LESSONSNEW

NEW DRUPAL WEB SERVICES OFFICE

ITS Educational Technology and University Relations (UR) have combined resources to create a one-stop Drupal Web development office. Drupal developers from both offices are now housed in 103 East Bartlett. ITS Educational Technology developers will focus on creating departmental and college websites in Drupal, while UR staff will maintain the main university website and other primary sites, such as the calendar and map. Developers from both units will work together to create standardized Drupal practices and provide support for other Drupal developers on campus. UNI DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY SCIENCE COMMISSIONING CEREMONY
