U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT RANKINGSNEW

UNI is ranked second in the "Best Regional Universities (Midwest)" category for public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2012 "America's Best Colleges" guidebook. UNI also was 16th on a combined list of all public and private Midwest regional universities -- one of only three public institutions to make the list of top-20 Midwest regionals.

RECEPTION FOR SHOSHANNA COON, MWONE UNIQUE ACADEMIC ADVISING AWARD RECIPIENT

Faculty, staff and students are invited to recognize and honor the first recipient of the MWOne Unique Academic Advising Award, Shoshanna Coon, chemistry and biochemistry. MidWest One Bank is sponsoring this award. The reception will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16, in the Great Reading Room, SRL. A short presentation will be held at 3 p.m.

PEACE CORPS NEW

Peace Corps Volunteers serve in more than 70 countries working in the areas of environmental education, English teaching, business advising and agriculture extension. USING CLICKERS LEARNING FORUMNEW

Turning Technologies is sponsoring Francis Schlemmer from the University of Illinois who will share best practices and effective usages of clickers in the classroom. Three sessions will be offered Wednesday, Sept. 21, in 138 ITTC. Engaging Students in Large and Small Classrooms with Clickers will be offered at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Clicker Best Practices and Writing Good Clicker Questions will be offered at 11:30 a.m.

MEMFIS USER'S GROUP MEETINGNEW

Plan to attend the MEMFIS User's Group meeting at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, in 109 MAU. Information about the MEMFIS Upgrade and changes users will experience as a result of the upgrade will be presented. Everyone is welcome to attend.

CENTER FOR HOLOCAUST AND GENOCIDE EDUCATION FACULTY BOOK READING GROUPNEW

The Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education is organizing a faculty book reading group. The group will meet from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, in 11 LNG, to discuss Deborah Lipstadt’s "The Eichmann Trial." Copies of the book will be provided at no charge to participants beginning Monday, Sept. 26.  At 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Monday, Oct. 24, the film “The Trial of Adolf Eichmann” will be shown in 2 SAB. ITS WILL MIGRATE CE8 COURSES TO BB LEARN 9NEW

ITS is taking requests for spring semester courses or any other courses that faculty would like migrated from the old CE8 system to the new Bb Learn 9 system. SECONDARY TEACHER EDUCATION SENATE HAS FIRST MEETING

The newly formed Senate for Secondary Teacher Education will have its first meeting at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, in 319 CBB. ANNUAL PCI & CREDIT CARD TRAINING

The Office of Business Operations is offering PCI and Credit Card Compliance Training on Sept. 20 and 22. Anyone who accepts or processes credit card material or data is required to attend. It is critical that any UNI employee with responsibilities for credit card processing or reconciling, along with supervisors of these positions attend. To find out about the class offerings and to register for training, log into MyUNIverse, select the Work@UNI tab, locate MEMFIS Resources and click on Register for Training.
