CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS MONTHNEW

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. "Securing the Human," an awareness wing of SANS, is providing two short videos on topics of general interest. The first video, available through Oct.15, covers phishing and scams. Please take five minutes to watch and learn.

INPUT REQUESTED ON CAPACITY BUILDING AT UNINEW

The Offices of the Executive Vice President and Provost and Sponsored Programs is seeking ideas and suggestions on how seed funding can best be used to enhance research, scholarship and creative activity, encourage grant seeking, and support interdisciplinary collaborations at UNI. Please submit comments by Friday, Oct. 12, to the OSP capacity building site.

REGISTRATION FOR 2012 DISABILITY AWARENESS SUMMITNEW

UNI will host the 2012 Iowa Regents Institutions Disability Awareness Summit from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Commons. The Disability Summit is open to all UNI students, faculty and staff, as well as those from other Regents institutions. Registration is required. LELAND WILSON ENDOWED CHEMISTRY LECTURE, OCT. 4NEW

Melanie Sanford, the Arthur F. Thurnau professor of chemistry at the University of Michigan, will present "Tackling Global Challenges in Sustainable Chemistry Using Transition Metal Catalysis" at the 2012 Leland Wilson Endowed Chemistry Lecture. Sanford will present her lecture at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, in Lantz Auditorium, MSH.

EMPOWERING THE VOICES OF LATINASNEW

UNI's Center for Multicultural Education will host Cathy Areu, founding publisher of Catalina magazine, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, in Bengston Auditorium in RSL with a reception to follow.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS & WELLNESS FAIRNEW

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the Employee Benefits & Wellness fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Commons. Fifty vendors will exhibit and more than 50 door prizes will be available. The first 50 people in attendance will receive an "Eat Right for Life" book.

TIAA-CREF ROTH 403(B) SEMINARNEW

TIAA-CREF will host a seminar alongside the Employee Benefits & Wellness Fair to share information about the new Roth 403(b) retirement option. This option provides another way to contribute to your supplemental retirement annuity with after-tax dollars. The session will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m., Oct. 9, in the Georgian Lounge, COM.

HELPING STUDENTS BECOME BETTER WRITERS

A faculty development session led by Karen Tracey, languages and literatures will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 13 CBB.
