MEET THE PRES

All Professional & Scientific (P&S) and Supervisory and Confidential Merit employees are invited to the P&S Council's Annual Meet the Pres event from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the GBPAC Lobby. The program will include an address by President Allen, recognition of the 2012 Regents Staff Excellence Award recipients and special musical entertainment. Staff are welcome to bring their lunch. CAMPUS COOLING

Physical Plant staff will begin shutting down building cooling systems on Thursday, Oct. 25. Due to the warmer than normal weather, this transition has been delayed from the normal timeframe. Once this work is complete, cooling will no longer be available. Contact Mike Zwanziger or Ron Hall at 273-4400 with any questions.

UNI MEDIA INTERVIEW GUIDE

The Office of University Relations (UR) coordinates and leads UNI's media relations efforts. UR assists media in contacting faculty and staff for news stories. Students, faculty and staff who are contacted by the media should notify the UR office. UR offers training and tips for faculty, staff and students who would like to prepare for interviews. UNI's Media Interview Guide is available on the UR website.

RESOURCES FOR COMPLETING ANNUAL ASSESSMENT REPORTS

Annual reports of 2011-2012 assessment activities for academic program areas are due to the assessment office by Nov. 1. The assessment website has links to a variety of resources for completing these reports, including advice from faculty who served as assessment associates in spring 2012.

HAZING WEBINAR WILL OFFER PREVENTION STRATEGIES

UNI's Center for Violence Prevention (CVP) and HPELS will host a webinar "Hazing: Leading and Responding with Solutions," from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7. ONLINE COURSE DEVELOPMENT AWARDS: SUMMER/FALL 2013

The Office of Continuing and Distance Education is accepting proposals for course development awards for faculty interested in converting an existing course to a fully online format using UNI's eLearning system. Proposals for summer and fall 2013 courses are due Nov. 30. Guidelines and a proposal form are available online. http://www.uni.edu/continuinged/faculty/courseproposals. Awards include a $1,000-per-credit-hour course-development stipend and a $1,000 professional-development stipend for attending Quality Matters workshops on Jan. 3 and 4.
