EQUAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY

The Equal Opportunity Policy has been revised. www.uni.edu/policies/1303 Changes reflect the requirement that the university designate a Title IX officer to handle inquiries regarding non-discrimination policies and coordinate the response to related matters. VIOLENT INCIDENT DEFENSE STRATEGIES (V.I.D.S.)

UNI Police will host V.I.D.S. training sessions starting Nov. 1, in the State College Room, MAU. V.I.D.S. training is designed to help individuals increase their decision-making ability and chances of surviving an active-shooter or violent incident. INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK, NOV. 12 THROUGH 16

International Education Week (IEW), Nov. 12 through 16, is a week-long celebration of the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The week's events allow UNI students, faculty and staff to experience other culture’s music, movies, food, traditions, sports and more. There will be an IEW kick-off event at noon, Monday, Nov. 12, in the Ballroom, MAU. There will be a drawing for a $100 scholarship for an American student and a $100 scholarship for an international student who attend the kickoff. VETERAN'S DAY SPECIAL AT RETAIL DINING LOCATIONS

Friday, Nov. 9, all campus retail dining venues will honor Veteran's Day by giving away free food to anyone who has served in the U.S. Military. Visit Prexy's, Chats, Essentials, 23rd Street Market or Biscotti's for further details on items at each location. Vets must show proof of military service at time of visit.

PANEL DISCUSSION ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

In 2010 there were 480 enrolled international students studying at UNI. Many international students feel invisible because few people outside of this experience understand how it feels. International students who have made friends with students from the host culture have reported greater academic and better adjustment overall. Master of social work students will host a discussion of what it means to be an international student at UNI from noon to 2 p.m., Nov. 13, in the Oak Room, MAU.

A WOMAN'S GUIDE TO SAVING AND INVESTING
