UNI Online is distributed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Submitted items must be sponsored by a UNI department, program or organization. No commercial or personal announcements are allowed. A Governor's STEM Advisory Council update meeting will be held from 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Presidential Room, MAU. The meeting is hosted by Jeff Weld, the council's executive director and head of IMSEP. Attend the meeting and learn about opportunities to get involved. RSVP to imsep@uni.edu. Due to a renovation project that includes updated heating/cooling systems, lighting and audio/visual components, the Maucker Union Ballroom will not be available for events until March 19. Reservations for events can still be made by calling the Maucker Union administrative office at 273-2256.

The 2011 Iowa High School Football Playoffs are continuing in the UNI-Dome. This will mean increased traffic on Hudson Road on game days, which in some cases also may affect parking. On Nov. 18, the first of three games begin at 10:30 a.m. See www.uni.edu/unidome for more information.
Nov. 19 is the cutoff date for the Nov. 30 biweekly payday. Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, timecards will be processed early and must be approved by 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22 to be included in the Nov. 30 paycheck. Please make sure timecards are submitted and approved to meet this deadline.
A UNI employee received an email message strongly implying her safety was at risk if she didn't pay the sender a sum of money. If you receive a similar message, save it and contact UNI Police immediately at 273-2712.

The Office of Continuing and Distance Education is accepting proposals for course development awards for faculty interested in converting an existing course to a fully online format using UNI's eLearning system. Proposals for summer and fall 2012 courses are due Wednesday, Nov. 30. Guidelines and a proposal form are available at www.uni.edu/continuinged/faculty/courseproposals. Awards include a $1,000-per-credit-hour course development stipend and a $1,000 professional development stipend for attending Quality Matters workshops on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 3 and 4. A Blood Chemistry Profile (BCP) screening will be held from 7 to 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the WRC. Employees enrolled in a university health insurance plan are eligible for one free BCP per academic year. Spouses and UNI students may sign up for a $20 fee.
