Spotlight Day is dedicated to the presentation of award winning pre-K through 12 earth science, inquiry and/or math-based classroom projects. Spotlight gallery (table displays) and Spotlight presentations are planned and UNI faculty teaching innovations will be highlighted. CENTER FOR NANOINTEGRATION DUISBURG-ESSEN NANO SUMMER PROGRAMNEW

The Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen (CeNIDE) will offer the CeNIDE Nano Summer Program, June 4 through July 20, 2012, at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. This seven-week international academic program focuses on the field of nanotechnology. It's designed for outstanding students in their third to fifth academic year with a major in science or engineering. The application deadline is Jan. 15. FACULTY STAFF APPRECIATION AT UNI WRESTLING (1/8)NEW

As a welcome back for the spring semester, UNI Athletics is offering UNI faculty and staff discounted tickets to the UNI vs. Air Force wrestling meet on Sunday, Jan. 8. The dual meet will begin at 2 p.m. in the West Gym. Purchase tickets at the discounted rate of $3 using the promo code UNIFS. Tickets can be purchased online, by calling 273-4849 or by visiting a UNITix box office.

UNI WRESTLING FACULTY AND STAFF APPRECIATION

The UNI wrestling team will open home dual meet action on Friday, Jan. 6 when they host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. in the West Gym. Tickets to the dual are just $1, and can be purchased at the door, in advance at a UNItix box office, online or by calling 273-4849.

MCELROY FELLOWSHIP

Candidates for McElroy Fellowships must intend to pursue a Ph.D. and must have graduated in December 2011 or graduate in May 2012 with a liberal arts degree. Awardees will receive $10,000 per year for three years to help defray education costs. In addition to an above average academic record, students will be evaluated on their character, leadership and general interests as expressed by extracurricular activities. The on-campus application deadline is Monday, Jan. 20. Potential applicants should contact Bryce Kanago.

WELLNESS AND RECREATION

FOCUS ON FITNESS WORKSHOP NEW

Want to begin an exercise program, but don't know where or how to start? Focus on Fitness workshop will teach you the basics of an exercise program and how to design your own plan based on your specific goals. The workshop will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, in 204 WRC. Cost is $15. Available to students, faculty, staff and spouses. To sign up or for more information, contact Erin Nielsen.

FREE DAYS IN THE WRC FOR FACULTY AND STAFF

Faculty and staff who are not paid users of the WRC, may use WRC facilities free-of-charge from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Jan. 3 through 6, by presenting a UNI ID at the Welcome Desk. You may also bring your spouse and tax dependent children with you. Check hours for specific activity areas.

OPERATIONAL HOURS FOR MAUCKER UNION FOOD SERVICE IN JANUARY

Due to construction at Chats in the Maucker Union, Prexy's will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., through Friday, Jan. 6, providing limited breakfast and lunch offerings, coffee and assorted beverages. All operations in the Maucker Union will resume regular hours of service on Monday, Jan. 9.
