The Office of Sponsored Programs sponsors a variety of events and services to advance research, scholarship and creative activity at UNI. Examples include internal seed grant competitions, a biennial symposium, professional development workshops, research compliance, Campus Connexus and more.

PRESIDENT ALLEN TO RECEIVE HONORARY DOCTOR OF HUMANE LETTERS DEGREE

President Allen was nominated by faculty members in ISU's College of Business for an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from ISU. He will receive the degree during ISU's commencement on Saturday, Dec. 17. For more information about this recognition, visit www.uni.edu/provost.

All First Reports of Injury (FROI) by UNI employees should be sbmitted to workcomp@uni.edu directly to Human Resources at UNI. This has been updated on the FROI and can be found in the forms repository.

RETAIL OPERATIONS GIVE THANKS FOR DONATIONSNEW

The Department of Residence collected 110 toys and 77 clothing items for donation to the Salvation Army. Trees were located at Prexy's, Essentials, Biscotti's and the 23rd Street Market.

TURNING TECHNOLOGIES STUDENT RESPONSE SYSTEM (CLICKERS)

On Wednesday Jan. 4, Turning Technologies will present the basics of Turning Point and clicker classroom technology. Discussion will also focus on best practices and effective usage. Tips will be shared on writing effective clicker questions for both small and large classroom learning environments. Attend this session to learn about this classroom response system and to discuss ideas for effective use with UNI colleagues. SPRING COURSE RESERVE LISTS

Faculty wanting to place items on reserve for the 2012 spring session should submit their list to the Rod Library Reserve Desk by Dec. 23. Any requests received after this date can't be guaranteed to be available for the first week of classes. Reserve lists can be submitted online at http://www.uni.edu/library/reserverequest/.

FACULTY STAFF APPRECIATION

All UNI faculty and staff will receive tickets at the discounted rate of $10 to the men's basketball games Dec. 19 and 20. To receive the discount, use the promo code UNIFS. The code can be used online, or by saying it to a ticket office representative over the phone at 273-4849 or in person at a UNItix box office.

SUZUKI SCHOOL TO OFFER BEGINNING VIOLIN/VIOLA LESSONS

FIT PLAN PACKAGE DEAL

The Personal Fitness department at the WRC is offering a fitness deal to help you start the New Year making healthful decisions while saving money. Sign up for all three events and the cost is $40 (purchased individually all three are $53). The package includes a fitness evaluation during the week of Jan. 16 through 20, a Focus on Fitness Workshop, from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, and a second fitness evaluation the week of Feb. 27 through March 3. Fitness evaluations include: resting blood pressure, heart rate, measurements and body composition, cardiovascular (run, walk, bike) and strength and flexibility testing. OPERATIONAL HOURS FOR MAUCKER UNION FOOD SERVICE IN JANUARYNEW

Due to construction at Chats in the Maucker Union, Prexy's will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., through Friday, Jan. 6, providing limited breakfast and lunch offerings, coffee and assorted beverages. All operations in the Maucker Union will resume regular hours of service on Monday, Jan. 9.
