WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS: Public announcements regarding
cancellation of classes and/or reduced university operations will
be made only after the provost and vice president for
administration and finance, or their designees, have conferred.
Announcements will be made via local radio and TV stations, as
well as the UNI home page.

Here are the most common weather-related messages. If you
don't hear an announcement about canceled classes, events or
work activities, assume that things will continue as planned.

1. Circumstance: Classes canceled before start of business day
Announcement: All classes at UNI are canceled today.
Action: Students do not go to class.
Faculty do not go to class.
Essential staff report as usual.
Staff report as usual, if possible.

2. Circumstance: Classes canceled during business day/night classes canceled. (Night classes officially begin at 5:30 p.m.)
Announcement: Classes at UNI are canceled for today beginning at (time).
Action: Students do not go to night class.
Faculty do not go to night class.
Essential staff maintain usual schedule.
Staff maintain usual schedule, if possible.

3. Circumstance: Delayed start of normal operations
Announcement: Classes and normal work activities at UNI will begin at (time).
Action: Students go to class at designated time, if possible.
Faculty go to class at designated time, if possible.
Essential staff maintain usual schedule.
Staff report at designated time, if possible.

4. Circumstance: Cancellation of operations before start of
business day
Announcement: Classes and normal work activities at UNI
are canceled today.
Action: Students do not go to class.
Faculty do not go to class.
Essential staff maintain usual schedule.
Staff do not report for work.

5. Circumstance: Cancellation of operations during business
day
Announcement: Classes and normal work activities at UNI
are canceled beginning at (time) today.
Action: Students do not go to class after designated time.
Faculty do not go to class after designated time.
Essential staff maintain usual schedule.
Staff leave work at designated time.
