DIVERSITY MATTERS AWARD NOMINATIONS – DUE DEC. 14

Support UNI’s diversity efforts by nominating a student, faculty or staff member for the 2012 Diversity Matters Awards. The awards recognize those who work to fulfill our obligation to promote a university community characterized by inclusiveness and diversity. The awards will be presented at the Town Hall Meeting for Diversity on Wednesday, Feb. 1. For more information and to access the nomination form, visit www.uni.edu/diversity/.

CANDIDATE FOR VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION & FINANCIAL SERVICES

The second candidate for the position of Vice President for Administration & Financial Services will be on campus for interviews Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12 and 13. The candidate's name, resume and schedule is posted at http://www.vpaf.uni.edu/hrs/vp/. The candidate open forum presentation will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the Elm Room, MAU, addressing the issue, "How I Can Contribute to Effective and Collaborative Leadership at UNI." Information regarding additional candidates will be posted two business days prior to the start of their interviews.

W2 ELECTRONIC DELIVERY - DEADLINE IS JAN. 9

Sign up now for electronic-only delivery of your W2. To choose electronic delivery, in lieu of a mailed copy, you must give permission electronically by Jan. 9. You’ll also be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card. The electronic W2 is the same document as the paper copy mailed to your home. With electronic delivery you can view your W2 online, with the option to print, at least a week earlier than if you choose to receive the paper document through the U.S. Mail. It’s also a cost savings to UNI. The electronic W2 will be available through UNI Student Employee Self Service by mid-January. A notification of its availability will be sent to you. PUBLIC NOTICE: IMPROVEMENT ALTERNATIVES FOR IOWA 934/UNIVERSITY AVENUE

The public is invited to a meeting to discuss proposed improvement alternatives for Iowa 934/University Avenue in Waterloo/Cedar Falls from 58 east to U.S. 63. The meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church, 3220 Terrace Dr., Cedar Falls. No formal presentation will be made. Iowa Department of Transportation staff will be available to individually discuss the proposed improvement alternatives.

EARLY PROCESSING OF STUDENT BIWEEKLY TIMECARDS FOR DEC. 28 PAYDAY

The cutoff date for the Dec. 28 biweekly payday is Saturday, Dec. 17. Because of the Christmas holiday, timecards will be processed early and must be approved by 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20 to be included in the Dec. 28 paycheck. Please make sure timecards are submitted and approved to meet this deadline.

NEW ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN TAIWAN PROGRAM

The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, in conjunction with UNIBusiness, will offer an Entrepreneurship in Taiwan for business and non-business majors. The 2012 program is May 12 through 20 in Taipei City, Taiwan. This program is an intensive nine-day study of entrepreneurship, small business, culture, history, language and politics. Eight UNI students will be selected through an application, essay and interview process. The application and essay are due Jan. 20. For more information, call 273-JPEC (5732).

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY OF SERVICE

Jan. 16, will mark the 26th anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday. Take this opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service. Make MLK Day a day on, not a day off. ST. JUDE'S CARD COLLECTION FOR KIDS

Recycle used greeting cards and donate them to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, which has a card recycling program that benefits the children of St. Jude’s Hospital. The Recycling & Reuse Technology Transfer Center (RRTTC) is gathering greeting cards in drop boxes at Mauker Union, WRC, CEEE, Schindler Lobby, Gilchrist Hall and Rod Library. HELP UNI ENTREPRENEURS CAN HUNGER

Did you know that one in eight individuals in Iowa struggles with hunger? UNI Entrepreneurs is sponsoring a food drive through Dec. 16 with all donations benefitting the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, which serves more than 40,000 different people annually. FOCUS ON FITNESS WORKSHOP

Want to begin an exercise program, but don't know where or how to start? Focus on Fitness workshop will teach you the basics of an exercise program and how to design your own plan based on your specific goals. FIT PLAN PACKAGE DEAL

The Personal Fitness department at the WRC is offering a fitness deal to help you start the New Year making healthful decisions while saving money. Sign up for all three events and the cost is $40 (purchased individually all three are $53). The package includes a fitness evaluation during the week of Jan. 16 through 20, a Focus on Fitness Workshop, from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, and a second fitness evaluation the week of Feb. 27 through March 3. Fitness evaluations include: resting blood pressure, heart rate, measurements and body composition, cardiovascular (run, walk, bike) and strength and flexibility testing. CHANGE IN LIBRARY HOURS DURING FINALS

Library hours for Dec. 7 through 13 will be extended hours. Patrons may check out materials and enter the building until 10 minutes to closing time, at which time service desks close and the doors are locked. Library online resources are available 24/7; if off campus, there will be a prompt to enter your CatID. CHATS CLOSED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION
