The applications for the Sue Follon Scholarship for Women in Leadership are due no later than Jan. 15. This is a $4,000 one-year award. Applications and minimum requirements are available at the Common Scholarship Application website. http://www.uni.edu/finaid/
Information about McElroy Fellowships is now available. http://www.uni.edu/competitive-scholarships/fellowships-mambaphd-studies. Candidates must intend to pursue a Ph.D. and must have graduated in December 2012 or will graduate in May 2013 with a liberal arts degree. The award is $10,000 per year for three years. In addition to an above-average academic record, students will be evaluated on their character, leadership and general interests as expressed by extracurricular activities. Dec. 15 is the cutoff date for the Dec. 26 biweekly payday. Because of the Christmas holiday, timecards will be processed early and must be approved by 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18 to be included in the Dec. 26 paycheck.
De-Stress Days will be held in the Maucker Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 10, 11 and 12. The following activities will take place in the ballroom: mini massages, a Labyrinth, crafts and more. Students also can interact with puppies and kittens from the Cedar Bend Humane Society in front of Chats.
UNI Police will host additional Violent Incident Defense Strategies (V.I.D.S.) training sessions in December in the State College Room, MAU. V.I.D.S. training is designed to help individuals increase their decision-making ability and chances of surviving an active-shooter or violent incident. Biscotti’s convenience store and bakery and the computer lab in Redeker Center will be relocated to the lower level of Shull Hall for spring semester 2013.
