There are reports of a growing number of scams where an unknown person calls the victim on the phone and tells them that their computer is infected and must be repaired. The instructions given will be to connect to a website and download "the fix" or to set up your computer to allow the caller to connect remotely. Nothing of this nature is valid. Make note of the caller's phone number, name or company name and then end the call. Please forward any information you collect to email@example.com. If your computer does become infected, you will be contacted by ITS, your college/divisional tech support staff, or ResNet staff if the machine is a personal machine in campus housing.
