My UNI Weekend is a digest of weekend (Thursday - Sunday) entertainment and recreation opportunities at UNI, mailed on Thursday mornings during fall and spring semesters. Submission deadline is noon, Wednesday. Submissions will be rejected if sponsorship by a university department, program or organization is not clear.

THURSDAY EVENTS

UNIVERSITY MUSEUM EXHIBIT - 'RACE: ARE WE SO DIFFERENT?'

"RACE: Are We So Different?" helps visitors understand what race is and what it's not. It gives them the tools to recognize racial ideas and practices in contemporary American life. The exhibit explores three themes: the everyday experience of race, the contemporary science that is challenging common ideas about race and the history of this idea in the United States. The exhibit is on display at the University Museum.  Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

ENTREFEST! IOWA'S CONFERENCE FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

The fifth annual EntreFest! conference will highlight the thriving world of entrepreneurship in Iowa. For most entrepreneurs, the journey is never over as they continue to grow, overcome obstacles and set new goals and priorities. EntreFest! is a two-day conference dedicated to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs and will provide attendees with all the right tools to thrive. The conference will be held Thursday and Friday, March 8 and 9, in Ames. For more information, email Courtney Schwitzer.

GUEST ARTIST MASTER CLASS: UNIVERSITY OF IOWA FACULTY PIANO QUARTET

The University of Iowa Faculty Piano Quartet will visit UNI to present a master class beginning at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in Graham Hall, RSL. This guest ensemble features University of Iowa faculty artists Scott Conklin, violin, Elizabeth Oakes, viola, Hannah Holman, cello and Rene Lecuona, piano. This event is free and open to the public.

RHO EPSILON MEETING

UNI’s Real Estate organization, Rho Epsilon, will meet at 5 p.m., Thursday, March 8, in 131 CBB. Hayden Frevert from Cohen Financial will be the guest speaker. Come learn about the company and the opportunities available for internships and full-time employment. After the presentation the group will head to the OP for free pizza. STUDENT DISABILITY SERVICES OFFERS ACCESSIBILITY WORKSHOP FOR STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

In an effort to support the UNI Diversity Mission to create and maintain an inclusive educational environment, The Office of Student Disability Services is offering a workshop for UNI student organization members to discuss accessibility for their events, programs and meetings. The workshop is from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the State College room, MAU. For more information, email Amy Dillard or visit the Student Affairs website.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD POOL PARTY

Both pools in the WRC will be open and a DJ will be spinnin' tunes from 7 to 10 p.m., Thursday, March 8.  Enjoy free root beer floats, lil' smokies and fruit kabobs.

FREE PLANETARIUM SHOW

There will be two free Planetarium shows at 7 and 8 p.m., Thursday, in 105 LAT.

'AN EVENING WITH COLIN HAY' AT THE GBPAC

Colin Hay, formerly with Men at Work, has embarked on a solo career. Hay will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 9, in the GBPAC. Purchase tickets online.

A-TEAM TUTORING SCHEDULE CHANGE

A-Team will not be held Sunday, March 11 due to spring break. A-Team will resume from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, March 18, on the first floor of Rod Library. A-Team is free to any currently enrolled UNI student and allows students to drop in for help in math, science, reading, writing, study strategies, business and more.
