My UNI Weekend is a digest of weekend (Thursday - Sunday) entertainment and recreation opportunities at UNI, mailed on Thursday mornings during fall and spring semesters. Submission deadline is noon, Wednesday. Submissions will be rejected if sponsorship by a university department, program or organization is not clear.

THURSDAY EVENTS

VOLUNTEER FAIR - SEPT. 1

Attend this year's Volunteer Fair at Maucker Union between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., today to learn about the many opportunities for involvement with more than 50 local non-profit organizations in the Cedar Valley.

UNI SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAM MEETING

The UNI swimming and diving program will hold tryouts for the 2011-2012 year. Prior to the tryout there will be a mandatory meeting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday Sept. 1, in the pool balcony, WRC. The tryouts will take place over a one-week period, starting Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the WRC pool. The tryout times will be announced at the meeting on Sept. 1. COMMUNICATION STUDENT ASSOCIATION MEETING

The Communication Student Association (CSA) invites all students looking for a resume builder and opportunities to get involved with a student organization, to its first meeting from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, in the College Eye Room, MAU. HER CAMPUS MAGAZINE

Her Campus Magazine is a webzine and schools from all across the country have their own branch. Her Campus UNI keeps you updated on all UNI news and entertainment with articles ranging from fashion to career tips to love languages. Check out the website at www.hercampus.com/uni. The first meeting is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Purple Pen Room (lower level of Maucker Union). It will be a quick informational meeting to orientate new writers. CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD PRESENTS: 'HANGOVER II'

The Campus Activities Board is showing "Hangover II" at 7 and 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, in the ballroom, MAU. Admission is free and there will be free pop and popcorn. 

PI SIGMA EPSILON BEGINS RECRUITMENT FOR FALL SEMESTER

Pi Sigma Epsilon, UNI's only co-ed fraternity in sales, marketing and management, is recruiting for the fall semester. Students of all majors are encouraged to attend informational meetings at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 1; and Tuesday, Sept. 6, in 126 CBB. Pizza and pop will be provided. 'TURNING POINT: NEW ACQUISITIONS FROM THE UNI PERMANENT ART COLLECTION'

The UNI art exhibition for fall 2011 is "Turning Point: New Acquisitions from the UNI Permanent Art Collection." The exhibit will run through Sept. 18 and is held in the KAB. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Free.
