My UNI Weekend is a digest of weekend (Thursday - Sunday) entertainment and recreation opportunities at UNI, mailed on Thursday mornings during fall and spring semesters. Submission deadline is noon, Wednesday. Submissions will be rejected if sponsorship by a university department, program or organization is not clear.

THURSDAY EVENTS

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

The Student Reading Association (SRA) will host a Scholastic Book Fair in the SEC lobby, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by and support SRA. For more information, contact Sarah Heddinger at heddings@uni.edu.

FISH! (ATTITUDE) WORKSHOP

A workshop on attitude will be offered from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., in SEC 323. FISH! is an approach to the workplace that looks at how one's attitude can make the workplace a more rewarding place. Free and open to the public. For more information, contact Leadership Studies at 273-6898.

UNI SHRM EVENT

SEE THE FILM 'INSIDE IRAQ: THE UNTOLD STORY'

Campus Activities Board presents "Inside Iraq: The Untold Story," at 7:30 p.m., in the Ballroom, MAU. Armed with a video camera, a homemade press pass and a single phone number, amateur filmmaker Mike Shiley chronicles a two-month journey inside Iraq uncovering the reality of life beyond the spin about the U.S. and Iraqi militaries and the Iraqi people. Swimming hosts South Dakota at 5 p.m., in the Glen F. Henry Pool.

GUEST ARTIST RECITAL: DAVID THOMPSON, HORN

Visiting artist David Thompson will present a horn recital from 5 to 8 p.m., in Davis Hall, GBPAC. Thompson is the solo horn of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra in Spain and is also the horn professor at Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña in Spain. Free and open to the public.

FREEBIRD! MUSIC FESTIVAL

Enjoy live music by student bands at 7:30 p.m., BMT inside Strayer-Wood Theatre. Free.

COOKING FOR A CURE

The UNI Public Relations Student Society of America will host a benefit breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., at the Wesley Foundation in Cedar Falls. Tickets are $5 if bought before the event and $7 the day of. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and professional activities for PRSSA members.
