UNI ALCOHOL TASK FORCE ASSEMBLED:Recent national research has affirmed what those on college campuses have observed for many years -- excessive alcohol use by students leads to consequences such as crime, injury, academic failure, academic underperformance, poor health, addiction and damage to reputation. With that in mind, Terry Hogan, vice president for educational and student services, has established an alcohol task force to find ways to reduce the incidence of high-risk drinking and associated negative consequences at UNI. The group began meeting this spring and is charged with developing a needs assessment by February 2009.
Members of the task force are: Julie Barnes, Substance Abuse/Victim Services Coordinator/Wellness and Recreation Services Michael Blackwell, Director of Multicultural Education Jon Buse, Dean of Students Adam Butler, Professor/Psychology Bill Callahan, Dean of the College of Education Steve Carignan, Assistant Vice President for Education and Sports Event Center Management Francis Degnin, Assistant Professor/Philosophy and Religion, Co-chair Bill Downs, Professor/Social Work Carol Fletcher, Interim Director of Dining Services/Department of Residence Adam Haselhuhn, Student, NISG Holly Johnson, Assistant Director of Alumni Relations/Membership and Operations Susan Riesselman, Student Tony Smothers, Academic Advisor/Academic Advising
