FALL PARKING PERMITS: Parking permit applications
are now being accepted online. To access the application, follow the
link under "Current Announcements" on MyUNIverse. Students must be
enrolled, and faculty/staff must be currently employed. G and CP permits
are excluded from this process. If you have questions, contact the

OPERATIONS MOVE: The Office of Business
Operations has moved to its permanent home of Gilchrist 256, the former
location of the Controllerís Office. Areas that have moved include
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiers, Fixed Assets, Payroll
and Purchasing. The mail code for Business Operations is 0008. Purchasing
(mail code 0016) and Payroll (mail code 0040) will maintain their
mail codes for a transition period. Questions should be directed to

PROGRAM COORDINATOR,
VOLUNTEER UNI: The position of Student Program
Coordinator for Volunteer UNI, a program area of the Career Center,
is available for the 2004-2005 academic year. The role of the program
coordinator is to promote volunteerism through presentations, the
annual Volunteer Fair and the biweekly e-newsletter, "VolunteerNews"
and the creation of printed materials. The time commitment is 12 hours
per week and the wage is $7.10 per hour. For a complete job description

GET INVOLVED WITH
ELECTION 2004: The New Voters Project is
the largest non-partisan & non-profit grassroots effort to mobilize
young voters in the history of the United States. The Iowa goal is
to register 50,000 18-24 year-olds and get them to the polls in November.
A voter registration drive will take place Tuesday - Thursday, April

FALL CONVOCATION,
4 P.M., SUNDAY, AUG. 22, GBPAC: Pres. Koob
will deliver the address, "Great Expectations." Jay Edelnant is convocation
marshal. This traditional event honors the beginning of the academic
year and sets a tone of dedication to education by both students and
faculty. The Panther Bash, a picnic and rally for new and returning
students, will follow.

DANCE BENEFIT: The
Cedar Valley Dance Club will hold its 9th Annual Spring Serenade Charity
Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, April 24, at Electric Park
Ballroom in Waterloo. The Ken Paulsen Orchestra will be playing. There
will be workshops on the waltz, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and cha cha,
from 4:45-5:45 p.m. The workshop fees are $12 each or $20 for both.
The fee for workshops and the dance is $30. Dance only price is $13
in advance and $15 at the door. Student rates are $5 with ID. Tickets
can be purchased at Image Makers on Main St. in Cedar Falls. Proceeds
will benefit the Waterloo Exchange Club and the UNI Folk and Ballroom
Dancers.

HILLSIDE OBSERVATORY
OPEN HOUSE: Saturday April 24 marks "Astronomy
Day." The UNI observatory, located on Jennings Drive, will be open
to the public from 9-11 p.m. Various telescopes will be set up to
provide views of several planets, nebulae and the Moon. No cost. If
the weather is cloudy, the event will be cancelled.

Tuesday, April 27, the students from the
"Land, People, and Economics" class will debate the question of drilling
for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), in CBB 223,
at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend and vote to determine the

VOICES AND RHYTHMS
OF AFRICA: Chris Ogbondah, communication
studies, will be the featured presenter on Tuesday, April 27, 5 p.m.
at University Book and Supply. After briefly talking about his book,
"State Press Relations in Nigeria," Ogbondah will play African
drums. Children of all ages will be invited to play drums and dance
to an African beat. Ogbondah will describe the clothing from Nigeria
he and his family will be wearing as well as many of the African artifacts
on display. A video depicting diverse cultural festivals of the peoples
Rivers States of Nigeria entitled "Rivifest" will be shown.
Ogbondah will tell stories and spin African tales.

PRAIRIE VIDEO: The
premiere showing of "America's Lost Landscape: The Tallgrass Prairie,"
will be Friday, April 30, in Lang Hall Auditorium. The feature-length
documentary is directed by Daryl Smith, professor and director of
the Native Roadside Vegetation Center. It is narrated by Annabeth
Gish, critically acclaimed film and television actress. The film covers
one of the world's great ecosytems and its transformation from natural
