Amnesty will be in effect throughout the month of April, 2004. This
year is the FINAL time that this option will be offered. During UserID
Amnesty, students may select a new userid, even if a change from the

to the Israeli Occupation will be presented at 8 p.m., Wednesday,
April 14, in SEC 247. Joe Carr, a peace activist, will present stories
and show pictures of incidents he witnessed, including the death of
23-year old U.S. peace activist Rachel Corrie. Cheryl Brodersen, Corrie's

IN RWANDA:
The Center for International Peace and Security Studies and the Department
of History, present a talk by Stephen Rapp, a senior trial attorney
in the
Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda.
He will present, "An Impossible Dream? Can Human Rights Violations
be
Deterred by International Prosecution?" The talk will take place
in the Seerley Hall,

BOYS: Christina Hoff Sommers is the W.H. Brady Fellow
at the American Enterprise Institute and the author of "The War
Against Boys." She will speak at 8 p.m., Wednesday April 14,

Sommers will show that it is boys, not girls, who are on the weak
side of the gender gap.

CARE:
Celebrate UNI’s Earth Day, Thursday, April 22, from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m., at Maucker Union Plaza. A variety of booths and services
will be available to encourage environmental awareness and education.
Europa Cycle & Ski will provide free bicycle tune-ups from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. UNI Police will register bikes for identification in
case of loss or theft. Extra credit cards for personal wellness students

BAND-4-BANDZ:
A battle of the bands will take place at the UNI West Gym on Saturday,
April 24, followed by a headlining concert with Lucky Boys Confusion.
The purpose of this all-day music festival is to bring live music
to the area and to promote responsible drinking habits, since April
is Alcohol Awareness Month. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for the battle

Winston blends jazz, rhythm and blues, folk, stride and classical

DANCE BENEFIT:
The Cedar Valley Dance Club will hold its 9th Annual Spring Serenade
Charity Ball from 8 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, April 24, at Electric
Park Ballroom in Waterloo. The Ken Paulsen Orchestra will be playing.
There will be workshops on the waltz, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and cha
cha, from 4:45-5:45 p.m. The workshop fees are $12 each or $20 for
both. The fee for workshops and the dance is $30. Dance only price
is $13 in advance and $15 at the door. Student rates are $5 with ID.
Tickets can be purchased at Image Makers on Main St. in Cedar Falls.
Proceeds will benefit the Waterloo Exchange Club and the UNI Folk
and Ballroom Dancers.

The 15th Annual UNI PRSSA Do-Run-Run will take place Saturday, May

OIL DRILLING
DEBATE: The question of drilling for oil in the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is a hotly contested issue. Although
attempts to open the ANWR for oil exploration have failed in Congress,
the question remains one of the most important issues before Americans
today. On Tuesday, April 27, the students from the Land, People, and
Economics class will debate this question in the CBB Room 223, at
2 p.m. The public is invited to attend and vote to determine the winning
