TO SPEAK HERE: Madeleine Albright, former US secretary of
state, will be the first lecturer in the Joy Cole Corning Distinguished
Leadership Lecture Series on Wed.,Oct. 24. She will address sudents
at 4:45 pm in the Great Hall, GBPAC. UNI students with proper identification
may pick up one free ticket a piece at any UNI ticket outlet.

new MyUNIverse provides direct access to your personal reports and transactions.

RIDE THE VOLLEYBALL
BUS: You can be there when #18 UNI Volleyball takes on Notre
Dame in Bettendorf, Iowa on Tuesday, October 16th! Join other Panther
fans and ride the UNI Volleyball Fans Bus to the game. UNI Athletics
is offering a UNI Volleyball Fan Bus seat and a game ticket for only
$25. The bus will leave from the northwest WRC lot at 2:45 p.m. on Tues.,
Oct. 16 (cars can be left in that gravel lot). Game time is 7 p.m. The
bus will stop for dinner (fast food) on the way to Bettendorf and will
return immediately after the game. To sign up, call Sloane Tyler at
3-6667 to reserve your seat.

EXPLORING MAJORS
FAIR: The 3rd annual Exploring Majors Fair will be held
Oct. 25 from 11a.m.- 2p.m. in the Maucker Union Expansion. The Fair,
hosted by Academic Advising Services, is designed for all undecided
students as well as students who have declared a major, but may be
uncertain about their choice. It's a centralized opportunity for students
to investigate various curricular and career options. Faculty, advising
coordinators, and experienced students from more than 30 departments
will be available. Door prizes will be available.

LIT
IS NOW PUBLISHING STUDENT WORKS FOR FREE:
A student organization is now offering students a chance to publish
anything you have written down in LIT. The entry is free, as is the
publication. Deadline for entry is Thanksgiving day break and Publication
Projection is for X-mas Holiday. Please contact us at
ncaster@uni.edu with questions and entries. We have budget limit
so pieces may be judged to decide entry, or it may be a first come
first serve, so contact us soon.

PERFORMING FOR PEACE: UNI
In Peace has a Sub-committee called UNI Performing for Peace. This
subcommittee is dedicated to the betterment of this campus and this
country as a whole. What this orgainzation plans to do is put on a
performance of dancers, musicians, actors, poets, artists of all cultures
and walks of life to promote peace here on earth. This organization
has a message to all who promote war and to all who adovacate violence..."
We are the troop that performs for peace, we are your conscience!."
The organzation is also in the process of gathering ideas and performers
who feel that they have a message to portray. For more info, contact

GALLERY
OF ART PRESENTS "A QUESTION OF FAITH:"
This all media, national juried art exhibition explores a multitude
of viewpoints concerning religion and spirituality. The juror is Eleanor
Heartney, a contributing editor to "Art in America." The exhibition
is sponsored by the UNI College of Education, the UNI Department of
Art, the journal "Religion & Education," and the Iowa Arts Council.
Exhibition dates are Oct. 1 -Oct. 26. Call 3-6134 for gallery hours.

Ph.D., Curator of Oceanic Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will
lecture on "How the spirits of the wood speak to you," at
7:30 p.m., Oct. 15. You can meet him at a reception in KAB at 6:45

TO HOST BRITISH DEBATE TEAM: The UNI Forensic Program will
be hosting the British Debate Team on Oct. 15 and 16. A public debate

WHAT IS "SCIENTIFIC"
CREATIONISM?: The Department of Philosophy and Religion
and the Philosophy and Religion Club present an informal talk by UNI
anthropologist Dr. Michael Shott on "scientific" creationism. The
talk will take place at 3:30pm on Tuesday, October 16, in Thompson
Commons (Baker 161).

a panel discussion on "How a kosher meat plant and turkey plant changed
the face of one Iowa town." An Iowa Public TV documentary will be

PERFOMANCE ARTIST TO LECTURE AT UNI: UNI's 2001-2002 Hearst
Lecture Series will begin with Pat Oleszko, an internationally known
performance artist. She will present a lecture on her work at 7:30
p.m., Tues., Oct. 16, in UNI's Kamerick Art Building, Room 111. A
concluding performance is scheduled for Fri.,, Oct. 26 at a location
to be announced. The events are free and open to the public.

TO PRESENT LECTURE SERIES: "The Chesme Church: A Memorial
to Empire in Catherine the Great's Russia," will be the topic of the
first lecture of the 2001/2002 PAT History Honor Society/History Club
