NEWS:

PADAVICH APPOINTED INTERIM INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICER:

Ron Padavich has been appointed the interim intellectual property officer for UNI. When UNI employees create a new, novel product or process, they should contact the intellectual property officer to determine what type of intellectual property protection should be sought and to assist in the commercialization process. Padavich will continue his duties as director for Strategic Marketing Services (SMS) and the Executive Development Center, both programs of UNI Business and Community Services.

 

SAVE THE DATE:

Save the date for the second annual town hall meeting on diversity, scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, in the Old Central Ballroom of Maucker Union. More details to come.

 

REMOTE ACCESS TO LIBRARY RESEARCH DATABASES:

After the fall semester, you will need to use your CatID to access library research databases like Academic Search Elite, JSTOR, and Panther Prowler from off campus.

 

DECEMBER RETIREES RETURN YOUR PARKING PERMITS NOW:

December retirees who have a parking permit should return it now to to get a refund. At that time you can apply for an emeritus permit.

SURPLUS SALE OF FORD RANGER:

UNI Surplus will auction a 1995 Ford Ranger pickup on www.publicsurplus.com from now until 4 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4. The vehicle is parked near the large fuel tank near the Physical Plant building. Contact Dennis Nieman at 3-2869 or Vince Heuer at 3-3527 with questions about the vehicle.

CELL PHONE DRIVE:

The Northern Iowa Family Services Organization has partnered with Seeds of Hope to reprogram old cell phones to be used by victims of domestic violence to contact the police or the domestic violence hotline. Collect phones over break and bring them back to be donated. Drop boxes will be available in the residence halls and LAT 232. E-mail Danielle Engle at engled@uni.edu with questions.

Winter weather is a peak time for work place injuries to occur across campus. PARKING DIVISION HOURS:

The Parking Division will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 3. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 24. If there is bad weather, these hours could be reduced. Questions can be directed to 3-2710.

 

UNITIX WINTER BREAK HOURS:

The GBPAC ticket office is closed through Sunday, Jan. 10. The McLeod Center ticket office will remain open for most of break, but will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24 and will be closed Friday, Dec. 25 through Monday, Dec. 28. FACULTY DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

The Academic Technology Coordinating Committee announces the availability of Adobe Connect licenses for faculty members interested in using this new technology in their teaching. In addition, faculty members are invited to submit an application to participate in a pilot program using lecture capture software. Announcements were sent to all faculty by e-mail attachment on Thursday, Dec. 10. SPRING RESERVE READING LISTS:

Faculty wanting to place items on reserve for the 2010 spring session should submit their lists to the Rod Library reserve desk by Thursday, Dec. 24. Requests received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be available for the first week of classes in January. FREE DAYS IN THE WRC FOR FACULTY/STAFF:

UNI employees who have not paid the annual Wellness/Recreation Center user fee may enjoy the WRC recreational facilities free-of-charge Monday through Friday, Jan. 4-8.
