NEH SUMMER STIPEND NOMINATION COMPETITION:
UNI may nominate two full-time faculty to apply for the National Endowment for the Humanities' Summer Stipend Program, a $6,000 award. (See: http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/stipends.html.) The deadline to compete for a nomination is 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14. For information on the nomination process, contact the Office of Sponsored Programs at email@example.com or 3-3217. Part-time faculty, adjunct faculty and staff are eligible to apply without being nominated.
PROCESSING SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:
The Financial Aid scholarship team will be attending all-day training sessions for the new Student Information System during the week of Aug. 17. Please make sure 2009-2010 awards are entered on the financial aid system (FMAP) by July 31 to ensure students' awards are processed and ready for the first billing on Aug. 10.
NEW FEDERAL INDIRECT COST RATES FOR SPONSORED PROJECTS:
UNI's new federally negotiated indirect cost (facility and administrative) rates are 31.5 perent of modified total direct costs for on-campus programs and 13.5 percent for off-campus programs. The new rate should be used for all projects with start dates of July 1, or later. Project directors with off-campus projects should contact the Office of Sponsored Programs before calculating the indirect costs. FALL COURSE - WIND ENERGY APPLICATIONS IN IOWA:
Continuing & Distance Education is currently accepting enrollments for a new, two-credit-hour course, "Wind Energy Applications in Iowa." The fall 2009 course covers a variety of topics providing a substantial overview of wind energy, its use and the ramifications of its use, as well as a review of history and driving forces for the economic development of wind energy. Pink ally-triangle cards have long indicated support for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and questioning individuals. However, obtaining a card required little more than a supportive attitude. As a way to strengthen ally commitment and knowledge of what it means, UNI Proud and the Department of Residence are again sponsoring Safe Zone Ally Orientations this fall. The electronic version of the Ulrich's Periodicals Directory is now available through UNISTAR, the Rod Library's online catalog. Use this resource to obtain bibliographic and publisher information about more than 300,000 journals, determine titles in subject areas of interest and identify refereed journals.

RETIREMENT RECEPTION FOR NORMA RILEY:
The Registrar's Office will host a retirement reception honoring Norma Riley, from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, in GIL 007. Norma will retire on Aug. 31 after 29 years of service to the university.

GOSPEL TRIO TO PERFORM AT GBPAC:
Grammy-nominated gospel trio, Trin-i-tee 5:7 will perform a concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at the GBPAC.
